Ubuntu founder: Enterprise Linux is not only Red Hat

There is no doubt that Red Hat is indeed the choice of many companies considering Linux, but in recent years the situation has begun to reverse. In addition to Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server actively catching up, recently the founder of Ubuntu also intends to fight Red Hat.

Ubuntu founder Mark Shuttleworth recently published an article in his personal blog with Ubuntu vs RHEL in enterprise computing as an example of Ubuntu over Red Hat Enterprise Linux. (RHEL) is even better. In order to support his argument, he also listed recent data from W3Techs.

According to W3 Thehs, Shuttleworth said that since the summer of 2011, Ubuntu has been used as a web server more than RHEL. Ubuntu's corporate market is growing, and RHEL is on the decline. Indeed, if you look at the analysis of W3Techs, in March 2012, 18.6% of the websites that operated on Linux used Ubuntu, and only 12.1% used RHEL. Of course, in the W3Techs report, in addition to Ubuntu and RHEL, there are other Linux versions listed. Ubuntu is known to come from Debian, and CentOS comes from Red Hat. If you use their usage rate, will Ubuntu and RHEL be different?

The results of W3Techs show that Debian is 30.1%. CentOS accounted for 28.8%, showing that Ubuntu still outperforms RHEL. In fact, I have a lot of users who used CentOS to set up a web server. Now I have switched to Ubuntu. In the past, I used RHEL and started to switch to Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server. It seems that the situation of the three countries will continue. a period of time.
