Configuration Reference:

Configuration 1 x3350, requires 2.66 quad-core CPU, 4GB of memory, 4 146GB hard disk Raid5, external LTO4 half-height SAS interface tape drive

Q) Target application and market positioning of x3350?

A: x3350 is a brand new product line. It is the first RAS feature (reliability, availability, serviceability) that can be provided on a single processor socket product platform. The target application, file print server, mail server, Web applications and services, Web caching services, network infrastructure construction.

System x3350 server narrowed the distance between 1 and 2-way 1U rack servers in terms of price and performance. Comparing single- and dual-socket servers, the x3350 offers a more compelling price combination, high product availability, and storage flexibility. The server uses

will help customers reduce total cost of ownership, reducing the overall adult system. In the hope of reducing and optimizing IT budgets, customers who plan to use 1U high 2-way servers to complete Web and network infrastructure and applications will become target customers.

Q) Which operating systems can the x3350 be installed?

A) IBM System X operating system compatibility list connection:

http://www-03.ibm. Com/servers/eserver/serverproven/compat/us/nos/matrix.shtml

Q) Can x3350 do RAID 5? Does the standard support RAID?

A) This depends on the machine Type depends.

The x3350 has hot-swappable hard drives and easy-to-plug hard drives.

The hot-swappable model integrates the LSI1064E controller and supports Raid0 and 1. If you want to do RAID5, you need to add ServeRAID?-MR10i SAS/SATA Controller, option number: 43W4296; matching battery option number 43W4299.

The model of the easy-swap hard disk does not support Raid. Raid0, 1, 1E must be added by adding ServeRAID-BR10il. Option number: 44X0411.

Q) Can the x3350 plug in a SATA hard drive? How much hard drive capacity is supported?

A) Depending on the model, there are three types:

1. Hot Plug and pull 3.5-inch hard drive models: install up to two 3.5-inch hard drives. Can support SAS or SATA hot swap hard drives, but not mixed.

If you install a SATA hot-swappable hard drive, the maximum capacity is 750GBx2; if you install a SAS hot-swappable hard drive, the maximum capacity is 300GBx2.

2, hot-swappable 2.5 inch hard disk models: supports a maximum of four 2.5-inch hot-swap SAS drives, the maximum capacity 146GBx4

3, simple-swap SATA models: supports a maximum of 2 Block 3.5-inch SATA easy-swap hard drive, the maximum capacity is 750GBx2

Q) How many memory slots does the x3350 have? What are the requirements for extended memory?

A) x3350 has 4 memory slots . Two standard memory, extended memory needs to be installed in pairs, as shown in the sequence:

Q) x3350 keyboard and mouse interface ps /2 parallel port and a serial port do you
A) The x3350 does not have a PS/2 keyboard and mouse interface. There is no parallel port and there is a serial port.

Q) Does the x3350 support the built-in tape drive?

A) The x3350 is a 1U rackmount, limited by space, and does not support the installation of an internal tape drive.

Q) Can the x3350 be connected to the DS3000 series disk cabinet? Does it support the EXP3000?

The A x3350 supports connection to the DS3200 and DS3400, and does not support the DS3300. The X3350 supports the connection of the EXP3000. You need to install the ServeRaid-MR 10M card, option number: 43W4339.

For more information, please refer to the compatibility website:

Q) What options are required for x3350 to install an external tape drive?

A) If you want to use the tape drive externally, you need to configure the tape drive external box and external device in addition to the tape drive. Connect cables and power cords. A configuration example is provided at the end of this document.

The commonly used tape drive external box is:

87651NX - IBM 1U Rackmount Tape Enclosure (with a "39M5377" PDU power cable)

87664NX - IBM 4U Rackmount Tape Enclosure (with a "39M5377" PDU power cord)

8767HNX - IBM Half High Tabletop Tape Enclosure (without power cord)

8768FNX - SAS Full High Tape Drive Enclosure (No With power cable)

Power cable:

PDU power cable 39Y7932

Wall power cable 39Y7928

The corresponding cable is:
< BR> 42C3910 - SCSI Interface & Cabling Ki (for tape drives connected to SCSI interface)

40K2599 - SAS Enclosure Adapter Kit Option (for tape drives connected to SAS interface)

44E8869 - USB Enclosure Adapter Kit? (For tape drive connected to USB interface)

Q) Does the x3350 have a PCI-X expansion slot? Is there a PCI expansion slot?

A) x3350 There are 2 extension slots, full height, and expansion slots for PCI-E x8. There are no PCI-X and PCI expansion slots.

Q) Is the x3350 configured with several power supplies, redundant? What is the power consumption?

A) The x3350 comes standard with one hot-swap power supply, up to two, for redundancy. The X3350's maximum power consumption is 400W, and the typical power consumption is 280W.

Q) What is the performance of the x3350?

A) The following link is the benchmark test result for the IBM System X series server:
