1.1 Installing Windows Server 2003 Operating System

Install Windows Server 2003 operating system separately on Server 1 and Server 2. Installation To begin the installation process, start directly from the Windows Server 2003 CD. Your CD-ROM must support a bootable CD.

Note: When configuring partitions and formatting drives, the data on the server's hard drive will be corrupted.

1.1.1 Starting the Installation

The installer creates a disk partition on a computer running Windows Server 2003, formats the drive, and then copies the installation files from the CD to the server.
Note: These instructions assume that Windows Server 2003 is installed on a computer that is not already running Windows. Some installation steps may vary if you upgrade from an earlier version of Windows.

The detailed steps are as follows:

1. Insert the "Windows Server 2003 CD" into your CD-ROM drive.

2. "restart" the computer. When prompted, press any key to boot from the CD.

This will start installing Windows Server 2003.

3. In the "Welcome to Setup" screen, press the "Enter" key.

4. Read the license agreement, if accepted, press "F8" key.

Note: If an earlier version of Windows Server 2003 is already installed on this server, a message may appear asking if you want to repair the drive. Press the "Esc" button to proceed with the installation without repairing the drive.

5. Follow the instructions to delete all existing disk partitions. The exact steps may vary depending on the number and type of existing partitions on your computer. Continue to delete the partition until all disk space is marked as "unpartitioned space."

6. After all disk space is labeled as "Unpartitioned space", press "C" key to create a partition (if applicable) in unallocated space on a disk drive in. When

7. In the "Create disk partition size (MB)" prompt, type 20480, and then press the "Enter" key.

8. After you create a partition, press the "Enter" key "new (not used)."

9. "Use NTFS file system partition & lt; fast & gt;", then press the "Enter" key.

The Windows Server 2003 installer formats the partition and then copies the files from the Windows Server 2003 Server CD to the hard drive. The computer will restart and the Windows Server 2003 installer will proceed with the installation.

1.1.2 Completing the Installation

Using the Windows Server 2003 Installation Wizard to Continue Installation

1. The Windows Server 2003 Installation Wizard detects and installs the device. This may take a few minutes, during which time your screen may flicker.

2. In the "Regional and Language Options" dialog box, change your locale (typically, if the United States, you do not need to make changes), and then click "Next."

3. In the "Custom Software" dialog box, in the "Name" box, type "Mike Nash", the "Unit" box, type "Reskit". Click Next.

5. In the "Authorization Mode" dialog box, select the appropriate licensing mode for your organization, and then click "Next."

6. In the "Computer Name and Administrator Password" dialog "Computer Name" box, type the new computer name "HQ-CON-DC-01", then click "Next."

Best Practices: To facilitate the steps in these guides, the system administrator password is left blank and no password is set. This is not an acceptable security practice. Always set a password when installing a server for a production network. By default, Windows Server 2003 requires a complex password to be set.

Windows Server 2003 installation continues and configures the required components. This may take a few minutes.

11. Server "Restart" and load the operating system from the hard drive.

1.1.3 set the second disk drive

must be formatted space to install Windows Server 2003 has not been divided, then the operating system can access it. Disk and partition management is done through the Computer Management snap-in in the Microsoft Management Console. The following steps assume that the second disk drive is in use; modify the process accordingly for the second partition.
