Although you limit the disk space used by each user, the common operation of multiple users can also make a certain folder in the Windows system become extremely large. It supports the Windows 2000/XP /2003 operating system. After the installation and operation, you can limit the disk capacity of any folder in the machine. The author takes the local machine named “ccemachine” as an example to limit the disk capacity of the “CCE” folder in the E disk.

Installing SpaceGuard SRM Service

In the "Browse Network" form on the left side of the SpaceGuard SRM Management Console window, expand "Network→Microsoft Windows Network→Workgroup" and find the name " The local computer of ccemachine.

By default, the SpaceGuard SRM service is not installed by the SpaceGuard SRM Disk Management Tool. In order to limit the disk capacity of the "CCE" folder of the E drive in this machine, you must first install the SpaceGuard SRM service.

The installation process is very simple. Right click on the "ccemachine" machine icon in the "Browse Network" form, then pop up the shortcut menu and select the "Service Management→Install/Remove" option (Figure 1). The "SpaceGuard SRM Service Setup" service installation configuration dialog box is displayed. Click the "Install" button. Wait a moment, the installation success dialog box will pop up, and then the installation of the SpaceGuard SRM service will be completed, so that the service is used as the system service in the background. run.

Folder Disk Capacity Limit

After completing the installation of the SpaceGuard SRM service, you can start to limit the disk capacity of the "CCE" folder. In the "Browse Network" form on the left side of the main window, find the "CCE" folder of the E drive, right click on the "CCE" directory, pop up the shortcut menu, and then select the "Quota→Add" option to pop up the directory configuration dialog. Click the "Next" button to enter the "Quota-Policy" quota policy dialog (Figure 2). Here, the SpaceGuardSRM tool provides a large number of quota policies for folder capacity limitation. This eliminates the need to manually set quota policy parameters. If the quota policy does not meet the needs, you can define it yourself.

If the author wants to limit the "CCE" folder to use 1000MB disk space, when the folder usage capacity reaches the "95%" of the quota value, a warning message is issued. When the capacity reaches "100%", all users are prohibited. The CCE folder is operated. The disk quota policy provided by the SpaceGuard SRM cannot meet the requirements. You must manually define the quota policy.

In the Quota-Policy Quota Policy dialog box, select the "Specify Quota Plice" option, click the "Next" button, and then enter the disk quota limit for the CCE folder in the "Absolute valu" field. The capacity is “1000MB” (as shown in Figure 3). Click the “Next” button to enter the “Quota - Limits” quota limit dialog box, and set quota operation parameters for this quota policy in the dialog box.

Because the "CCE" folder is used to "95%" of the quota capacity, a warning dialog message pops up. When "100%" is reached, all users are prohibited from using the folder. Click the "Add" button to enter the "Configure Limit" configuration limit dialog box, add restrictions according to the above requirements. Enter "95" in the "Percentage of Quota size" field, set the warning information parameters, then click the "Add" button, select the "Popup" option in the pop-up dialog box, and click the "OK" button (Figure 4). Then click the “Add” button in the “Quota - Limits” configuration restriction dialog box, enter “100” in the “Percentage of Quota size” field, click the “Add” button, and select the “Revoke Access” option in the pop-up menu. And click the "OK" button.

Then click the "Next" button in the "Quota - Limits" quota limit dialog (Figure 5), name this quota policy item in the "Quota-Save policy" dialog box, and finally click "Finish" button. In this way, the disk quota limit for the "CCE" folder in the E disk becomes effective, and the folder is limited to 1000 MB.

Remote Quota

The SpaceGuard SRM Disk Management Tool is very powerful, not only can limit the disk capacity used by folders on the local machine, but also can be used for remote machine folders. Disk quota operations, the method of remote quota is the same as the local operation. As long as these remote machines are installed with Windows 2000/XP /2003 systems, the operator has administrator access to these machines.
