Green software experience experience

Software under Windows generally requires installation and setup to run, and even more so, the software settings are saved in the system and will be reset when we run on another machine. To this end, we organized this question and answer, and “made” some common software into green software to facilitate our use.

Q: Is there any ready-made green software download on the Internet?

A: If you are not using for commercial purposes, I can push you http://bbs.macd.cn/index/t-577751-p-1.html, also http://www.onegreen .net (however, there may be times when it can't be connected), there are a lot of green software versions made by high-level people.

Q: Total Commander saves the settings in the Windows directory by default. Can I save it to a non-system partition or a removable hard disk?

A: This is OK, open the TC, when installing the plugin, you must first copy the plugin file to the plugins folder under the TC installation folder, and then select "Help → About Total Commander", in The location of wincmd.ini and wcx_ftp.ini can be seen at the bottom of the window. Copy these two files to the TC installation folder (if you are in their installation folder, you do not need to re-copy). Use "Notepad" to open the wincmd.ini file in the TC installation folder, press Ctrl+H to open the replacement window, replace all TC installation folders (such as D:\\Totalcmd) with %COMMANDER_PATH%, click "All" Replace the " button. Finally, just download the tcmdhere.zip file from http://www.v7soft.com/download/tcmdhere.zip and copy the TcmdHere.exe file to the TC installation folder. Then copy the TC installation folder to your mobile hard drive or USB flash drive and double-click the TcmdHere.exe file to use our settings.

Q: Foxmail is a green software, but after I reinstall it, I found that some settings are still lost. How can I save it?

A: Foxmail directly copies the folder and opens Foxmail.exe under it. You will find that some settings are gone, but the account and mailbox are still there. Therefore, it is best to back up [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Aerofox to a .reg file before reinstalling the system, and then restore it. When you use it again, you will find that all the original settings are there.

In addition, for DreamMail, as long as it is installed in the non-system area, it can be copied directly, and it is also green software.

Also, when installing SnagIt, do not install it in the system partition. Then export the [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\TechSmith\\SnagIt] item to register.reg as described above, and then export the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\TechSmith] item to settings.reg. After reinstalling the system, just double-click the two regs. Files can be restored without having to reinstall.
