Watch out for FlashGet ruining your hard drive

When downloading files with flashget, the hard disk will squeak and whistle. Many people will assume that this is the sound of the hard disk rotation when downloading files. It is a normal phenomenon! If you are using a 56k kitten (modem), of course, there is no problem, because the flashget disk write operation is regular, by default, whenever the flashget receives 20kb of data, a write operation, This is completely problem free for ordinary dial-up users, and it is very economical. However, if you are using broadband and the download speed is around 200kb per second, then the hard drive has to be written 10 times in one second! This is a crazy speed! In the long run, the hard drive will definitely shorten its life. I remember that there were experts who told everyone that in order to make flashget work more efficiently and increase the frequency of writing to the hard disk, it is obviously worried that the hard disk is not fast enough. Beware of flashget ruining your hard drive!
Change it now! Don't let flashget write data to the hard disk so often!
Run flashget, click "Tools" → "Options" on the toolbar, open the parameter settings, find the "General" tab, you will see a value after "Write data to disk every time received" The default is 20, which is not suitable for broadband users. Generally set to 100kb, if your broadband is really fast, it is no problem to set it to 500kb.
After setting up, use flashget to download things to try, the hard drive is not much quieter.
