InstallWatch clears garbage when installing software

The installation of Dafan software is extremely simple and user-friendly. Generally, just click the “Next” or “Next” button and follow the wizard's prompts to complete the step by step. But the software uninstall is not so easy, if the "uninstall" or "Uninstall" command is provided in the program group, otherwise you can only enter the "Control Panel → Add or Remove Programs" to try to uninstall, if this is still not possible I am afraid that it can only be manually deleted, but it will inevitably leave a lot of garbage in the system, such as *.dll files, the registry will naturally leave a lot of spam, which will affect the operating efficiency of the system. It may also bring a variety of problems, and the only solution at that time would be to reinstall the system.
First, manually remove the trouble of installing garbage
When you have to manually remove the program, the usual way is to first delete the installation folder of the program, then enter the registry editor, use the software name as a keyword to find , delete all relevant key values, but this operation is undoubtedly very cumbersome, and there is no guarantee that you can delete the spam in the registry, as for the shared files left in the C:\\Windows\\System32\\ folder (mainly some * .dll) is even more difficult to delete.
If you are a good person, you can save the registry before the installation program to save, export the registry again after the installation, and then use the FC command to compare, so you can find the registry key value changes before and after the program installation. Then manually delete the relevant key values, but the related operations can not be done.
Second, the software problem is solved by software method
In fact, we can install InstallWatch to solve this problem, this software will first scan and snapshot the system (Snapshot), then you can track the installation or Changes in system settings when uninstalling hardware and software, including files, INI files, registry keys, all information is stored in the database, and can generate relevant reports, if necessary, you can export the registry part to * The .reg file can be imported directly when reinstalling the software.
Here, we use QQ2004II Beta2 as an example to introduce how InstallWatch works:
(1) Wizard mode
As shown in Figure 1, this is the InstallWatch program interface, click the "Install" button will Enter Wizard mode, the software will first create a "snapshot" of the current situation of the system, which contains detailed information about the state of the machine, and will be used by the installation wizard to find all changes, including system settings, installed software configuration. Etc. (see Figure 2). However, the process of creating a snapshot may consume a lot of system resources, and it takes a lot of time. Please wait patiently.

Next, InstallWatch will prompt you to select the installer to run. Here, of course, select .exe. After the installation is finished, it will automatically return to the main window. Click the “Next” button and the software will perform the second scan and snapshot. And automatically analyze changes in the system before and after installation. After the analysis is completed, a dialog box will pop up to identify the name of the software just installed. Enter “QQ2004II” here, and click the “Advanced” button to view the overview of the system changes.
Click the "Finish" button, as shown in Figure 3, in the side pane will display all newly installed software, expand to see more detailed information:

Figure 3
Here, you can also view the registry key values added by the installer, deleted registry keys, modified registry entries, etc. It seems at a glance. In the future, when you need to uninstall QQ2004II, as long as you have a certain patience, you can completely clean it up according to the records here, and you don't have to worry about any spam left in the system.
(2) Manual mode
If you think the wizard mode is cumbersome, you can switch to manual mode, so you only need two steps.
First click on the "snapshot" button in the window of Figure 1. InstallWatch will also make a "snapshot" for the current system situation, then follow the normal steps to install the corresponding application. After the installation is finished, switch to the InstallWatch window and click on the toolbar. The "Analysis" button, here InstallWatch will first analyze the changes in the system files before and after the installation, then analyze the INI file, and finally analyze the registry key values before and after the installation. After the analysis is completed, a dialog box will pop up, and an identifier will be used. To identify the name of the software just installed, return to the main window and you can view the system information before and after the installation.
Three, example operation show
In addition to clearing all kinds of garbage left in the software installation process, in fact, InstallWatch can also complete a lot of excellent tasks, here to introduce two examples to friends, friends may wish to study.
Example 1: Quickly restore the original configuration
After reinstalling the system, the reloading of the application is still a small matter. The key is that the configuration of some software is quite complicated. If all the notes are on paper, of course not reality. However, we can use InstallWatch to quickly restore the original configuration information of the software, including the user's personalized settings.
First of all, before the system reinstallation, we should export the information of all files to *.txt in InstallWatch, and then extract the string with absolute path, use UltraEdit and other editing software to do a batch file to complete The copy operation can of course be copied manually, and then the corresponding registry key is exported as a *.reg file. In the future, when reinstalling the software, you can restore the original configuration by restoring the files backed up in advance to the corresponding installation folder and then importing the *.reg file.
Example 2: Moving the software for one time
Many times, due to insufficient hard disk space, we may need to install some large chunks of software into other partitions, but if you follow the "Uninstall → Reload → Configure The steps are not only expensive, but also a variety of problems.
In fact, we can use InstallWatch to create a system snapshot, and then execute the "Tools → Advanced → Export Registry" command to export the registry of the corresponding branch, then you can directly move the software installation folder to other hard disk partitions. Then import the prepared registry file, of course, please modify the installation path of the software before importing, which is much more convenient.
Fourth, let InstallWatch work better
Under the default settings, InstallWatch will analyze all hard disk partitions to create snapshots, which will consume a lot of system resources, and the time to create snapshots is too long, why Not a little move?
Click the "Configure" button on the toolbar to open the "Configuration" window, as shown in Figure 4, here includes the default directory, directory and drive monitor, file types to ignore, registry monitor, miscellaneous, print options Wait for the tabs, switch to the "Directory and Drive Monitor" page, first cancel the "Scan all hard drives" checkbox, then click the "Add" button to add the drives or folders you need to scan to the list in batches. Generally choose "C:\\Program Files", "C:\\Windows" and the installation disk. You can even set a specific type of file here; switch to the "Registry Editor", cancel the "All" check box, and then You can select the registry section you want to scan.

Figure 4
The wind does not leave the sound, the geese do not take pictures. As long as InstallWatch is launched at the same time, it is extremely easy and enjoyable to install a huge commercial software or a small shareware, or a so-called green free installation software, to remove all kinds of garbage left over from the installation. It's a thing.
