Dual System Sets Shared Virtual Memory to Avoid Waste of Disk Space

Virtual memory is when we even out a portion of the hard disk space to act as a memory. When the memory is exhausted, the computer will automatically call the hard disk to act as memory to alleviate the memory tension. Some users have installed dual systems on the computer, hoping to allow the two systems to share virtual memory and avoid wasting disk space. So how do you set it up? Let's share with you the specific settings.
The prerequisites for unrelated Windows system sharing are: first need to ensure that there is the same file system (Win9x/Me does not recognize NTFS partition), and secondly the size of these two files must be the same, that is, their maximum The value and minimum value must be the same. Finally, the locations of these two files should be in the same directory of the same partition.
We can have two ways to share virtual memory files:
Method 1. Share WinNT's Pagefile.sys
Start Win98/Me system, click “Start →Run”,Type“ Systm.ini”, under [386enh], make the following changes: <;pagingDrive=c:pagefile.sys” (Location is set by yourself)
“minpaging file size=x” (If the virtual memory is 192MB, then x=192× 1024=196608, recommended to be set to 2.5 times the physical memory)
Next restart the computer, delete the "win386.swp" file; can not be deleted to indicate that the settings failed.
Method 2. Win386/swp sharing Win98/Me
Enter Win2000/XP, click “Start →Run”, enter “regedit”, open the registry, and then click “Find ” Function, find all items related to “filepage.sys”, and then change all “filepage.sys” to “win386.swp”.
related keys is:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMControlSet001ControlSessionManagerMemory Management]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMControlSet002ControlBackupRestoreFilesNotToBackup]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMControlSet002ControlSession ManagerMemory Management]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMControlSet003ControlBackupRestoreFilesNotToBackup]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlBackupRestoreFilesNotToBackup]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlSession ManagerMemory Management]
Finally restart your computer and delete “pagefile.sys”
The above is about the dual system to set up shared virtual memory to avoid waste of disk space, interested users can try the above two methods to set up.
