How does Win10 enable automatic maintenance? What is the role of automatic system maintenance?

We often perform a comprehensive cleaning, optimization, and anti-virus operation on the operating system when the time is idle. This type of operation can also be performed through the automatic maintenance function to achieve the function of the unattended automatic maintenance system. Many users don't know how to get started when they touch this function. You can refer to the following.

"Automatic Maintenance", as its name suggests, is an automated maintenance operation that does not require manual intervention by the user when Windows is idle, such as software updates, security scans, system diagnostics, disk defragmentation, and SSD disk optimization. This feature is not only available in client operating systems such as Win10, but also in Windows Server.

Turn on Win10 automatic maintenance:

By default, Win10 automatic maintenance tasks are performed every day, users can control the panel — system and security & mdash; security and maintenance & mdash; automatic maintenance Click Change Maintenance Settings to specify when the automatic maintenance task begins daily, and you can manually choose whether to allow the computer to wake up to perform maintenance.

Because Win10 automatically maintains a lot of system resources, it will lead to CPU usage, high memory usage and frequent disk reads and writes, so it will start to operate when the system is idle. If the time for the task has arrived and the user is found to be using the computer, the automatic maintenance time will be postponed.

Suspending Win10 automatic maintenance:

Of course, Windows is not a panacea. If users only view web pages or perform low-volume document operations, Win10 may misinterpret the computer in a space state. . At this point, the maintenance operation of high resource occupation is started, which is likely to affect our work.

If you find that Win10 has a strangely high resource count, you can stop maintenance by clicking Stop Maintenance in Control Panel —Systems & Security—Security & Maintenance—Automated Maintenance.

Disabling Win10 Auto Maintenance:

Although I personally don't recommend it to everyone, I can still disable Win10 Auto Maintenance by changing the registry.

1. Press Windows + X to execute regedit on the fly to open the registry.

2. Browse to the following path:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows NT\\CurrentVersion\\Schedule\\Maintenance

3. Create a new 32-bit DWORD named MaintenanceDisabled The value and setting its value to 1 completely disables the automatic maintenance of Win10.

If you regret using the registry after disabling automatic maintenance, please change the value of “MaintenanceDisabled” in the registry to 0 and then log out to start automatic maintenance.
