How to use the GPT partition format in Win10 environment for large-capacity hard disk partitioning?

Today's computer configuration, using large-capacity hard drives is nothing new, it may be 4~6 partitions, but there are still many people using more partitions, and even some people have divided the hard disk space. More than 100 partitions. If you use MBR for more than 100 partitions, we will not be able to talk about a new mainstream ——GPT partition format.

This method is applicable to 64-bit Win7/Win8.1/Win10 systems and can meet the requirements of using GPT partitions as the above system partitions. This tutorial uses the DiskPart partitioning tool built into the Windows 10 first anniversary update preview 14342 soft-ware homemade ISO image (click to enter the download page). The functions in the scope of this article are no different from the other available images mentioned above.

Note: All data needs to be erased in this process, so non-new hard disk users should be treated with caution.

Before starting, users need to prepare the Windows system CD or U disk. You can use the soft media cube (click to download) CD burning, U disk boot tool combined with the system ISO image, the system U disk production method specific See "The most convenient and flexible! Win10 official version of the U disk installation method detailed.

Operation steps:

1. Use the created system CD or U disk to boot, adjust the boot mode to UEFI in the BIOS (for Legacy BIOS users), as shown in Figure 1. Show:
Figure 1

Tips for IT Home: Press ESC or the default button of the current computer after booting to enter the boot mode selection interface, or enter the BIOS to set it separately (the hotkey is generally Del, F2, etc.), the specific situation needs to be determined according to the computer preset, but the operation mode is similar. UEFI boot requires motherboard chipset support. If you do not find the corresponding content in the BIOS settings, then it is likely that your motherboard does not have this feature.

2. After selecting the system version selection interface (Fig. 2), press Shift+F10 to bring up the command prompt, as shown in Fig. 3——
Fig. 3

3, enter the diskpart command and press the Enter key to enter the DISKPART tool, as shown in Figure 4 — —

4, enter the list disk command and press the Enter key to view the current available hard disk of the computer, The numbers are 0, 1, 2 … … if you only have one hard disk, there is only disk 0; if there are two hard disks, it will also display the first disk, and so on, as shown in Figure 4 ——

5, enter select disk x (x is the above hard disk number), select the hard disk you want to partition operation, if there is only one hard disk, enter select disk 0 and press the Enter key, as shown in Figure 4 &mdash ;—
Figure 4

6. Execute the clean command to clear all partitions on the hard disk (this step is not required for the new hard disk). At this time, all hard disk data will be cleared, as shown in Figure 5 —&mdash ;

7. Execute the convert gpt command to convert the hard disk into a GPT partition table, as shown in Figure 5:
Figure 5

8, create an EFI partition, execute create partition efi size=200 (partition size is 200MB), as shown in Figure 6 ——

9, create MSR partition, execute create partition msr size=200 (Microsoft system reserved partition), as shown in Figure 6 — & mdash;

10, create a primary partition, execute create partition primary size = xxx (the specific size depends on your requirements, as a system partition If there is enough space, you can leave more than 100GB or 102400MB of space, the command is create partition primary size=102400, which is convenient for the system to have enough revolving space, as shown in Figure 6:
Figure 6

The partitioning process uses virtual machine emulation, so the primary partition size is set to 30GB only as an operation demonstration. The actual operation is performed according to step 10

11. If there is still space left, continue to execute the above command to create a new one. Partition (note the specific value). However, it is recommended that the user exit the command prompt after installing the system partition to continue to install the system. After all, this method is not easy to estimate the remaining hard disk space. After entering the installation program, the remaining space can be further divided (as shown in Figure 7). After the end, enter the system disk management for allocation.

Unallocated space can create a new partition here, or create after the system is installed

As long as the motherboard supports your hard disk capacity, Windows can read your hard disk, partition 128 you can even install all the operating systems in history, and more than one hundred systems guide you to wait for your instructions, what a strong (wo) view (cao).
