Interesting Windows 7 Super Taskbar Prototype

Anthony Cook of bLogofcookie.com found an interesting phenomenon when attending Microsoft's training course TechDay 09 in France. The taskbar in the Windows 7 system used in the demo looks strange. . He speculated that this may be another new idea for Microsoft, but it turned out to be the prototype of the current "super taskbar".

On this taskbar, the text label is still active (may be enabled by default) and is divided into two On the line, the top is the program name, and the bottom is the subtitle that represents the contents of the current window.

This is a good idea. In existing systems such as Windows XP/Vista, the text label of the taskbar is simply a copy of the window title, without mentioning the program name. For example, if you are chatting with Windows Live Messenger, the taskbar button label shows the current and The username of your conversation, not “Windows Live Messenger”.

Obviously, Microsoft has given up on this design, but it also provides programmers with an interesting new way to provide richer, shorter information on the taskbar buttons if possible. For example, the mail client can display a phrase "X unread mail".

Of course, the biggest drawback of this design is that you need to occupy more screen space in the vertical direction, which is almost equivalent to double the XP/Vista taskbar. Although the display size is getting bigger and the resolution is getting higher and higher, as the operating system must take care of the experience of as many users as possible, this is the reason why Microsoft gave up this idea.
