Solve the XP serial number error when upgrading Windows 7

In order to make Windows7 popular as soon as possible, Microsoft officially allows real genuine Windows XP users to upgrade directly to Windows 7. However, during the actual upgrade process, when the user enters the genuine Windows 7 serial number, the system will prompt the warning message "Error code: 0XC004F061".

For this, some users have given a solution, as follows:

When the Windwos7 upgrade program requires the user to enter the serial number, please choose not to enter the serial number to install. After the upgrade program is installed, go to the Registry Editor, expand to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Setup\\OOBE, and then double-click "MediaBootInstall" in the right window to change its value to "0" (such as figure 1).

Modify the value of MediaBootInstall to 0

Exit and quit the Registry Editor.

Next, enter cmd in "Search Programs and Files" in the Start menu, and press Enter to open the Command Prompt window. In this case, run the command: slmgr/rearm (the carriage return is run after the input is completed).

When the window shown in Figure 2 appears, restart the computer.

After rebooting and entering the system, right click on "Computer" on the desktop, select Properties, and then press the system prompt information in the open system properties window (below) Genuine Windows 7 upgrade serial number can be.
