Survey says Windows 7 sells better than Vista

November 9 International Report Initial sales results show that Windows 7 is clearly more popular than Vista.

The data released by NPD Grouph last week showed that the sales volume of the Windows 7 boxed version was 234% higher than that of Vista in terms of the initial sales results.

If calculated by sales amount, Windows 7 also performs better than Vista. However, because the pre-sale discounts and the high-priced Windows 7 Ultimate version are not strongly advertised, the sales amount is only 82% higher than Vista.

NPD's Stephen Baker said: The Ultimate version...the price is quite high, but this time they are actually focusing on the Premium version, and the propaganda firepower is here. For example, buy a computer for a $50 Home Premium.

NPD data includes preliminary sales data since the launch of Windows 7 on October 22, and pre-purchase data for Microsoft's July discount offer. NPD has not announced the exact Windows 7 sales figures.

Web analysis company Net Applications also found that the early adoption of Windows 7 is very active.

Compared with the new PC installed Windows 7, it is not so good, but it fell 6% than the initial release of Vista. Baker pointed out that one of the reasons is that Vista was first launched in January, and traditional PC sales in January were stronger than in October.

Baker believes that the recession is not the cause of the difference in the initial sales of Windows 7 PC compared to Vista. He said: despite the economic downturn, this year's computer sales growth is still very prosperous, compared to last year's PC sales.
