Microsoft refutes Sopohs conclusion that Windows 7 insecurity is misleading

November 11th news, according to foreign media reports, for the British Internet security vendor Sophos last week, "Windows 7 is not safe" conclusion, Microsoft has made Responding, saying that the conclusion is completely misleading consumers.

Sophos said last week that Windows 7 User Account Control ("UAC") security features can only protect against 20% of viruses. Without installing any anti-virus software, under the default system settings of Windows 7, Sophos tested UAC with 10 new viruses, and only 2 viruses were prevented.

In response, Microsoft has responded recently, saying that Sophos' test results simply cannot explain the problem. This kind of informal test is not convincing at all, and has been criticized by some media.

Microsoft said: "If you run malicious code on your system, the result must be very bad. Sophos' test can only explain this. But the truth is, users don't take the initiative to run such malicious programs. Malicious programs are mainly transmitted through other channels, such as web pages or emails, and this threat should be handled by anti-virus software."
