About the public virtual memory related issues

The system needs virtual memory, let alone dual systems. Under the dual system conditions, some virtual memory is public. What should we do about this part of the public virtual memory? What about processing? The setting of virtual memory cannot be related to page files. The so-called page file, its function is to set a part of the hard disk space to virtual memory, thus expanding the available "memory" space to meet the program's operational requirements. Win9x usually uses the Win386.swp swap file in the installation directory to create virtual memory. WinNT uses Pagefile.sys to implement this function. Since they are all functional files, it is possible to share them for convenience and space savings.

Related Windows systems are very simple, such as Win98 and WinMe, WinNT and Win2000, WinNT and WinXP, just set their paths to the same. The specific method is: click “ start → set → control panel → system & rarr; performance & rarr; virtual memory & rdquo;, select "users specify their own virtual memory settings", the "hard disk" path specified as A partition with a large space such as "C: 2500MB is available" and the maximum and minimum values are set to be the same. It should be noted that when setting in the second system, it is best to delete the same file of the previous system.

The prerequisites for unrelated Windows system sharing are: firstly, you must ensure that you have the same file system (Win9x/Me does not recognize NTFS partitions). Secondly, the size of these two files must be the same. Their maximum and minimum values must be the same. Finally, the locations of these two files should be in the same directory of the same partition.

We can share virtual memory files in two ways:

1.Share WinNT's Pagefile.sys

Start Win98/Me system, click “Start &rarr ; run & rdquo ;, type & ldquo; systm.ini & rdquo ;, do [386Enh] under the following modifications: " pagingDrive = c: pagefile.sys " (the position set by themselves)

" minpaging file size =x" (if the virtual memory is 192MB, then x=192× 1024=196608, it is recommended to set it to 2.5 times the physical memory)

Then restart the computer and delete the "win386.swp" file. Cannot delete indicates that the setting failed.

2.Win386.swp sharing Win98/Me

Enter Win2000/XP, click “Start →Run”, enter “regedit”, open the registry, and then pass “Find the ” function, find all items related to “filepage.sys”, and then change all “filepage.sys” to “win386.swp”.

is related keys:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMControlSet001ControlSessionManagerMemory Management]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMControlSet002ControlBackupRestoreFilesNotToBackup]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMControlSet002ControlSession ManagerMemory Management]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMControlSet003ControlBackupRestoreFilesNotToBackup] < Br>

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlBackupRestoreFilesNotToBackup]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlSession ManagerMemory Management]

Finally restart your computer and delete “pagefile.sys”

The role of virtual memory I believe everyone knows that sometimes this problem is not easy to deal with, and now it is more difficult to have a dual system relationship, so the issue of public virtual memory Still have to pay attention to the next.
