Windows 7, how to partition unallocated disk space

New installation of Windows 7 By default, only C drive, you need to partition the unallocated disk space. This requires the use of a disk management tool built into Windows 7. Steps: Create a disk partition Click the Start button and right click? Start

Newly installed Windows 7 By default, only the C drive requires partitioning of unallocated disk space. This requires the use of a disk management tool built into Windows 7.

steps:

Create Partition
click & ldquo; start & rdquo; button, and right-click the Start menu of & ldquo; Computer & rdquo; option?? In the pop-up menu, select “Manage”; In the pop-up "Computer Management" window, expand the "Storage" item in the left navigation bar and click the "Disk Management" option. Load the disk management tool in the right pane; click on the disk with 0 (if it is the second hard disk, disk 1, and so on), unallocated space, right click and select "New Simple Volume" , the “New Simple Volume Wizard” dialog box will appear as shown below; in the “New Simple Volume” dialog box, click the “Next” button to display the page for setting the partition size; Windows Allows the user to create a partition with a minimum space of 8MB and no space limit (if there is enough space to allocate), the unit here is megabytes (MB), and the user can allocate according to the disk's allocatable space and personal needs. After setting the partition size, click the “Next” button to display the Assign Drive Letter and Path page. The user needs to set a drive letter or path. Here users can choose three distribution methods: --- If the user needs to create a new partition, you can click the letter next to the option to assign the following drive letter & rdquo; to change the drive letter, you can also choose the default. ---If you need to load the new partition into a disk or folder, you can click the “Add the following blank NTFS folder” option and click the “Browse” button to select or create a blank file. Folder to load the partition. --- If the user does not wish to assign a drive letter to the new partition, click the "Do not assign drive letter or drive path" option. After setting the partition allocation method, click the “Next” button to display the formatted page of the partition. The user needs to format the newly created partition. To make the partition available, the user must format the partition. Here, select the "Format this volume" option as follows, and make a series of settings: --- File system: File system refers to the underlying file system Format, users can choose from NTFS and FAT32, according to the default NTFS file system. ---Assignment unit size: This option is used to set the allocation unit, that is, set the size of "cluster". If this file will store a large file size, the user can set this option to a larger size. The appropriate setting can be Have better disk performance; if you are using a smaller file size, you can set this option to a smaller size, and the appropriate settings can save space. In general, you can follow the default values. --- Volume label: The volume label refers to the partition name, such as the usual “local disk”, “Local Disk”, etc., users can set it themselves. --- Perform quick format: Check this option to complete the partition formatting faster. It can create a new file table without completely erasing the contents of the hard disk (for the newly purchased disk does not exist) The situation of erasure). ---Enable file and file compression: Check this option if the file system selected by the user is “NTFS”. After setting the formatting options, click the “Next” button to display the completion page of the “New Simple Volume Wizard”. The settings for creating partitions selected by the user will be displayed here, as shown below: Click the “Back" button to return to the appropriate steps for resetting. After confirming the error, click the “Complete" button and the system will create a partition for the physical disk. When the partition is created, the system will automatically connect to the new partition. It will be possible to display the dialog shown in the figure. The user can select the operation or close the dialog box as needed. Compress the total space of the C drive loadTOCNode(2, 'summary'); In some cases it may be necessary to adjust the total capacity of the C drive, such as the notebook that was just purchased with the Windows 7 operating system pre-installed. If there is only one C drive partition, and the capacity of the partition is large, resulting in less space for other allocable disks, you can solve the problem by using the "Compression" function in the disk management tool. Select the C drive partition in the disk management interface, and right click to select the "Compress Volume" option; then the disk tool will automatically check the space available for the selected partition, the time used and the hardware performance of the computer and the disk. Space; after the check is completed, the "Compression" dialog box will display the total size of the current partition, the space available for compression, and the space to be compressed and the total size after compression; by default, the disk management tool will Automatically fill in the maximum space available for compression in the “Enter Compressed Space” setting box, which can be changed by yourself. Click the "Compress" button after determining the amount of space to compress and the disk management tool will compress the partition. Wait a moment to see the compressed partition and the unallocated space freed by the compressed partition, the size of which is equal to the amount of compressed space set during compression.
