Microsoft Media Center components will continue to be integrated into Windows 8

Foreign media reports that Microsoft Windows Media Center components for HTPC appliances, which have been around since the XP era, have been confirmed to continue to appear on Windows 8. This component did not appear in previous versions of the test, which raised concerns about the removal of related features.

Microsoft explained that Media Center did not appear because of the need to improve compatibility and overall operational quality, especially in the compatibility of some games and devices. The latest news shows that Media Center may not only appear in a Windows 8 release.

Media Center is a component that manages home media content, games, and playback controls. Although it's primarily for large-screen HTPC products, it doesn't look like a PC user (global usage is only 6%) However, in fact, in Russia, Mexico and Brazil, its usage rate is not low.
