Windows 8 automatically switches input methods for different application windows

If we are writing in Chinese while chatting with friends in foreign countries in English, do we need to switch the input method frequently? In the Windows 8 system, we can not only install and use a variety of input methods and personalization, but also maintain different input methods and input states in different program windows, so that we can automatically switch input methods when switching between program windows. And the input status is very convenient. Take a look!

First press the "Win+X" shortcut in Windows 8 to bring up the quick link menu at the bottom left of the interface and select "Control Panel".

In the Win8 control panel, select “Clock, Language and Region—Language”. In the “Language” settings panel, we can see the language type and corresponding input method of the current Win8 system. Click "Advanced Settings" on the left side of the interface to enter the overall settings of the Win8 system input method.

The point is coming! In the "Advanced Settings" interface of the language, check "Allow me to set different input methods for each application window" and click the "Save" button. The "different input method" here refers not only to two completely different input methods, but also to the input state of a different language (Chinese/English) of an input method.

After the setup is complete, we try to open two text editing software at will, Notepad, WordPad or Office can create two new documents, one using Chinese input status and one using English input status.

Now we can see that when we move the cursor to a different document editing window, the input method will automatically switch to the language state (Chinese/English) just edited. In other words, in the Chinese-edited document window, Win8 input method will automatically maintain the Chinese input state; when we switch to the English editing document window, Win8 will automatically adjust to the English input state, is it very convenient?

In addition to automatically switching the Chinese and English states of the input method, Win8 can also automatically switch between different input methods in different program windows. For example, we use Google input method in one window and Microsoft simple input method in another window. Win8 system can help us remember and switch automatically.

It should be noted that this automatic switching is only valid for the currently open program window. Once the program is closed and then opened again, the input method will switch to the default input state and the previous input method status will not be recorded.
