How to solve the problem of 100% hard disk usage under Win8 and Win8.1 system

Knowledge point analysis:

1. Shut down the home group

2. Turn off the virtual memory

3. Turn off the Windows 8 quick boot function

4. Service process superfetch

5. Software exclusion under the system

Operation steps:

1. The Windows 8 system family group allows multiple people to easily share files and folders between multiple devices on the LAN without using a storage device. However, for a general-purpose computer, the family group function also brings some side effects: Increase CPU usage and increase hard disk read and write. After the family group function is turned on, the hard disk will remain read and written.

Turn off family group features:

Right click on “Computer”, select Manage;

Click on "Services" in "Services & Applications" , find and close "HomeGroup Listener" and "HomeGroup Provider", in the pop-up property interface window, click the Startup type drop-down box on the General tab, and select the list to select "Disable". Then click the “Stop” button in the service state, and click the “OK" button to save the settings.

2. Virtual memory will increase the amount of reading and writing on the hard disk as the memory is larger.

Turn off virtual memory

Right-click on “Computer” select properties, open and select “Advanced System Settings", click the Settings button in "Performance";

Select “Advanced", click on "Change" in the virtual memory, and <;automatically manage the paging file size of the drive> remove the checkmark, click on the following "no paging file", click &ldquo ;OK”

3. Microsoft Windows 8 uses a hybrid boot technology in the system loading process. This technology stores the data of the system kernel in the memory in the form of a mirror and will start the system next time. This part of the mirrored data is reloaded into memory to reduce the amount of data loaded at system startup, and achieve the purpose of fast boot.

Close “Quick Start&#>

Open “Control Panel> Select “Hardware and Sound", select “Power Options";

Select “Select the function of the power button>;

Select “Change the currently unavailable settings”, then <;Enable Quick Launch (Recommended)” remove the previous check, then click below “Save settings”

4. Service process superfetch

The hard disk usage is also caused by the subservice superfetch service. Win8 uses this super pre-cache (the principle is to let some memory be used as the common data of the resident user of the hard disk) Optimized, but still cause WIN8/8.1 to take up 100% of disk usage, you can try to reduce the access to the disk, but it will affect the boot speed.

Close the service process superfetch

Right-click on "Computer" and select "Manage" &

In "Services & Applications", find Superfetch, After double-clicking it opens, in the pop-up property interface window, click the Startup type drop-down box on the General tab, and the list that comes out selects "Disable". Then click the “Stop” button in the service state, and click the “OK" button to save the settings.

5. Software Exclusion under the System

There will also be software access to the disk frequently, resulting in high disk usage, which can be viewed by the Task Manager and manually closed.

Right-click on the "Taskbar" and select "Task Manager";

Select “Performance", then click on the bottom of the "Open Resource Monitor". .

By looking at the name of the disk activity process and the speed of reading and writing, you can see the corresponding application.

After finding the corresponding application, right click and select End Process.
