Pre-installed Win8 models Replace Win7 and WinXP How to set up

  

Note:

This document explains the modification method of pre-installing Windows8 models to replace the lower version of the operating system, because the ThinkPad computer does not have Windows 8 at random. Recovery CD, if you still want to keep the pre-installed genuine Windows 8 system, please create the recovery media before the system is replaced. For details, see "Creating Recovery Media Method"

Tips: Dear Lenovo users, To prevent the risk of accidental loss of computer data, it is recommended that you regularly back up your important data to third-party storage media (such as servers, CDs, removable storage devices, etc.) to keep your data safe.

Operation method:

1. Click F1 to enter the BIOS interface during boot;

2. Go to Security---Secure Boot and change Secure Boot to Disabled;

3. Continue to enter the Startup— UEFI/Legacy Boot option in the BIOS. There are two options:

1) UEFI/Legacy Boot option is selected as Both, UEFI/Legacy Boot Priority is selected as UEFI First. This method is suitable for all versions of the operating system installation;

If the installation process produces an error as shown in the second image <; device driver cannot be found”. Generally, due to the inability to identify the GPT partition, installing the method in the above figure can solve this problem;

2) UEFI/Legacy Boot is selected as UEFI Only, and CSM is selected as YES. It can be understood as a compatibility mode of UEFI. This method is only applicable to Windows 7 SP1 version capable of supporting UEFI using CD-ROM installation;

4. If you need to install XP or earlier operating system, you need Config—Serial ATA(SATA)-- SATA Controller Mode The AHCI in Option is modified to Compatibility, (Vista, Win7 and other high-level versions of the system do not need to be changed);

5. After placing the installation CD, click F10 (or FN+F10) and select Yes to save the BIOS settings. Exit;

6. The machine will restart automatically. After booting, click F12 (or FN+F12) to select the CD boot. Follow the Windows 7 installation instructions to continue to install the operating system.
