Add a one-button shutdown button for Win8 start screen and desktop

  

Microsoft's new Windows 8 operating system uses a start screen with dynamic tiles, and removes the start button of Windows traditional desktop. It is difficult for friends who are new to Win8. All of a sudden understand how to shut down. It is estimated that many friends have already mastered the various methods of Win8 shutdown: for example, calling the super button menu on the right side of the screen, or pressing the shortcut keys such as “Win+I” and “Alt+F4”” can achieve Win8 shutdown. However, if some friends think that these operations are not simple enough, follow the instructions below to create a convenient “one-button shutdown” button on the Win8 start screen and traditional desktop.

Creating a Shutdown Shortcut

To enter a Win8 traditional desktop, select “New —Shortcuts” from the context menu.

In the "Create Shortcut" dialog box, enter the command <;shutdown.exe -s -t 00”, press “Next”.

Name this shortcut, such as “ One-button shutdown”.

Click on the “Complete” button on the traditional desktop of Win8. The “One Touch Shutdown” shortcut shown in the figure below, click on it to shut down directly, than those introduced at the beginning of the article. The method steps are much simpler.

Modifying the Shutdown Shortcut Icon

If you feel that the icon for this shortcut is not accurate and eye-catching, we can modify the icon. Right-click the shortcut icon for “ One-click Shutdown" from the right-click menu, select “Properties", and then click the “Change Icon” button.

Select your favorite icon in the "Change Icon" box. If it is not suitable, you can click the "Browse" button to select from other icon files. After selecting the icon, press the “OK” button.

Now our "One-Click Shutdown" shortcut icon becomes the pattern we set.

Fix the shutdown shortcut to the Win8 start screen

We can also put this shortcut on the Win8 start screen. The method is very simple: right click “One button to shut down” Shortcut icon, select “fix to ‘start & rsquo;screen” from the right-click menu.

Now let's go back to the start screen of Win8. On the far right, we can find the "One-button shutdown" shortcut that we just set. Now Win8's start screen and traditional desktop are placed with the "One button off" button, you can quickly shut down with a direct click.

In fact, Microsoft said that the Windows 8 operating system does not need to be shut down frequently, because Win8 consumes very little power in the sleep state, and the recovery time is very short. However, if you are used to the shutdown mode of the traditional PC, you may wish to try the shutdown method described in this article.
