How to remember the setting position of Win10 desktop icon

        After upgrading Windows 10, occasionally there will be a situation where the desktop icon cannot remember the original setting after starting or changing the screen resolution. The icon is always rearranged by the system. How should I solve this problem?
1. Modify the registry To restore & ldquo;memory 
Right click on the Windows 10"Start& rdquo; button and select the "Run& rdquo; item (Figure 1). In the subsequent pop-up window, type regedit and click “OK" to start the Registry Editor. If you are using 32-bit Windows 10, then navigate to "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\\CLSID\\{42aedc87-2188-41fd-b9a3-0c966feabec1}\\InProcServer32”, double-click the name in the right window, "(default)” The key, change its value from the original "MruPidlList", to "%SystemRoot%\\system32\\windows.storage.dll", then exit the Registry Editor and restart the system (Figure 2).

If the Windows 10 system used is 64-bit, you need to modify the "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\\Wow6432Node\\CLSID\\{42aedc87-2188-41fd-b9a3-0c966feabec1}\\InProcServer32” ; (default) & rdquo; key value is “%SystemRoot%\\system32\\windows.storage.dll” (Figure 3).

2. Use special software & ldquo;memory recovery
If you feel that modifying the registry is more troublesome, you can also use a special icon memory and recovery software IconRestorer. IconRestorer is free software. After running, just click the “Save Current Desktop Layout” button to automatically save the current desktop icon layout to the software database. After launching the system next time, if you find the desktop icon is messy, just click the “Restore the last saved desktop layout” button in the middle of the software to automatically restore the icon layout before the last save (Figure 4).

Tip:
To save backup and recovery of icons, please select the “Start with system” checkbox in the “Options” window of the software. In this way, the backup and recovery functions can be easily transferred through the small blue arrow icon of the system tray.
