How to turn off or enable adaptive brightness Win10 to turn off or enable adaptive brightness method

screen brightness adaptation is not new, for newer laptops, in the case of built-in light sensor, Windows 10 will enable this feature by default .

Adaptive brightness is a very simple feature, similar to a mobile phone. Some notebooks with Windows 10 can also automatically adjust the screen brightness based on ambient light intensity. So whether you are in the day or night, indoors or outdoors, under the blessing of Windows 10, the display of the screen will not be too dark or too bright. But to put it this way, Windows 10's adaptive brightness feature is only available for the relatively advanced Professional and Enterprise editions.

Adaptive brightness is relatively useful for users who often switch between different environments with their notebooks, which can reduce the frequency with which we manually adjust the brightness of the screen. However, it is not omnipotent to automatically adjust Windows 10 and switch the brightness of the screen. In the complex light source environment, it may cause some "killing". Although Microsoft does not leave room for adjustment and optimization for automatic brightness adjustment in Windows 10, we can easily choose to enable or disable it.

Enable or disable Windows 10 Brightness Adaptation

To enable or disable Windows 10 Brightness Adaptation, just make a manual change in the Advanced Power Settings in Control Panel. The steps are as follows:

1, open "Control Panel" & mdash; "System and Security" & mdash; "Power Options", click "Change Plan Settings" on the right side of your PC's current power plan

2. Click the "Change Advanced Power Settings" option

3. In the advanced settings, change "Enable Adaptive Brightness" under the "Display" tree to Off.

Note: If you can't find the "Enable Adaptive Brightness" option, it's very likely that your notebook doesn't have an internal ambient light sensor, so you don't have this feature.

If you still switch the screen brightness automatically after following the above steps, you need to force the Sensor Monitoring Service to be manually disabled:

1, press the Windows + R shortcut to open Run — Run services.msc to open the service manager

2. After finding the Sensor Monitoring service, double-click it to disable it.

If you're looking for a solution similar to the Night Shift night mode in the iPhone, the brightness adaptation feature definitely doesn't work. It is recommended that you try the f.lux gadget, which is not only available in Linux but also in Windows.
