Win10 Mobile does not support 4GB smartphones. Installation takes up 5GB of storage space

Microsoft has updated a Windows Mobile 10 login page. The information on this page shows that Windows Phone 8.x devices with less than 8 GB of internal storage will not be upgraded to the upcoming operating system. This is bad news for 4GB Windows Phone 8.x smartphone users. Windows Phone 8 or Windows Phone 8.1 smartphones can be upgraded to Windows Mobile 10 for free, as long as there is enough storage space, such as the Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 520. Windows smartphone manufacturers should be responsible for the work of cutting corners before they cut corners.

Windows smartphones that have been determined to be unrecoverable include Nokia Lumia 530, Karbonn Titanium Wind W4, BLU Win JR LTE, Yezz Billy 4 and Kazam a 4GB smartphone.

Microsoft's Lumia Windows Phone 8.x devices are mostly equipped with at least 8 GB of internal storage. Microsoft currently holds about 90% market share in the Windows Phone market, and most Lumia smartphones can be upgraded. Go to Windows Mobile 10.

Interestingly, Microsoft's minimum hardware requirements for Windows Mobile 10 were at least 4GB of storage and a microSD card slot. Below we will detail why Win10 Mobile does not support 4GB smartphones.

Now we have found that Microsoft describes in detail the storage space of the Windows 10 Mobile system on another page, as shown below:

You can see Installing Win10 Mobile requires at least 5GB of space. Considering that the total capacity here is the nominal capacity, Win10 Mobile actually needs to occupy nearly 4.5GB of storage space. However, Microsoft will continue to optimize Win10 Mobile, and said that it will try its best to upgrade all Lumia mobile phones to Win10 Mobile. Therefore, whether the standard 4GB mobile phone can be upgraded is still not conclusive.
