Win10/Win8.1/WP8.1 Store Application Enable Age Rating System

Two months ago, Microsoft began to migrate the Developer Center Dev Center account to the new unified dashboard, which will give Windows Phone and Windows developers The central dashboard provides new improvements, one of which is age grading store applications. In the new unified dashboard, each new app and game (including updates to those apps) will be required to be Windows Store Age grading. Previously Windows applications have been asked to perform such ratings, but WP applications have never been done.

This classification can help users more easily identify the scope of application and prevent minors from being adversely affected. What developers need to do is to select the application features and select the appropriate level from the following five age ratings in the Developer Center application submission process.

Age-level description:

• 3+ (for young children): These apps contain content suitable for young children. There may be a very small amount of comic violence in the form of unrealistic cartoons. Roles should not be similar or related to real-life roles. There should be no content that may be scary, and there should be no nudity or involvement in sexual activity or criminal activity. Apps that use this age rating also do not enable features that might access content or features that are not suitable for young children (such as uncontrolled online sharing of information described under the 12+ rating category, etc.).

• 7+ (for ages 7 and older): Apps with this age rating have the same conditions as 3+ apps, but these apps can contain content that might scare younger audiences. And can contain some of the bare content, as long as these nudity does not involve sexual behavior. This rating should only be used for apps whose content is suitable for children.

• 12+ (for ages 12 and older): Apps that use this age rating may include more non-sexual nakedness, minor bloody violence against non-realistic characters, or targeting real people or Non-blood violence of animal characters. This age rating may also include sputum, but not sexual nature. In addition, applications using this age rating or higher may allow uncontrolled execution of (i) access to an online social network, or (ii) sharing of personal information with third parties, including other players or online acquaintances. (To make this type of activity considered controlled, your app must include some parental controls - require parental permission to use these sharing features, and you must also indicate these parental control options and describe their functionality in the tester's instructions. )

• 16+ (for ages 16 and older): Applications with this age rating can depict real violence with minimal blood levels, and they can depict sexual behavior. They can also contain drug or tobacco use and criminal activity and more deficiencies than allowed by 12+ applications, but within the limits set by the app store strategy.

• 18+ (for adults): This age-graded app may contain intense, vulgar or specific violence, bloody content that is only suitable for adult users.

In addition, developers may be asked to rate a specific regional rating committee, which is available in the dashboard. After the age level is divided, the Win10/Win8.1/WP8.1 application will be more standardized, easy to manage, and users can more easily grasp the download content.
