Win 7/8.x users can install Win10

by upgrading

Microsoft Windows Insider preview project leader Gabriel Aul said in a tweet today that Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1 can be directly upgraded to Windows 10, and retain personal files and settings Etc., while Windows XP/Vista and earlier versions of Windows require formatting the system partition to install Windows 10, and previous files and settings are not preserved.

A few months ago, Microsoft was testing the Windows 10 Technology Preview via Windows Update. If all goes well, the official version of Windows 10 will also be upgraded through Windows Update. For users using Windows 8.1, they can also download the upgrade through the Windows Store. Stay tuned for the new Windows 10 Technology Preview and Microsoft related release events in January.
