Install a virtual network card to achieve virtual machine and local access

I use the virtual machine software VMware to run different systems on the same computer for testing web applications because of the programming needs. In fact, N virtual network cards can be installed on one computer. With virtual machine software, many network simulations and developments can be performed, such as soft routing, VPN, different network transmission, external network penetration intranet communication, and network attack pressure. Test, etc.

I installed the virtual network card that comes with the Windows system, which also realizes the mutual access between the virtual machine and the machine without networking.

The following is a Windows XP system, for a brief introduction to the installation of the virtual network card:

Open the "Control Panel", double-click the "Add Hardware" icon, click "Under Hardware Wizard" The One-Step button, which searches for new hardware that was recently connected to your computer but not yet installed. Since we didn't really connect the new hardware to the computer, the system certainly couldn't find the new hardware, so a dialog box asking if the hardware is installed will pop up. In the dialog box, select "Yes, I have connected this hardware". Click the "Next" button.

1. In the "Installed Hardware" list that appears, select the last item "Add New Hardware Device" and click the "Next" button to continue.

2. In the next pop-up dialog box, select "Install the hardware I manually selected from the list", click the "Next" button, select "Network Adapter" in the list of hardware that appears, Click the "Next" button.

3. In the Select NIC dialog box, select “Microsoft” for “Manufacturer”, “Microsoft Loopback Adapter” for “Network Card”, click “Next” button to start installation, and finally click “Finish” " button.

4. Open “Control Panel” → “Network Connection”, you can see the new network card. For easy distinction, please rename the virtual network card connection. It is best to set a fixed IP for each virtual network card. If you don't usually use virtual NICs, disable them.

5. Virtual machine software (using VMware5 as an example) can select or exclude different network cards to meet our needs. Select "Edit → Virtual Network Settings", select the "Auto Bridge" tab, and adjust the NICs we want to use for networking by "Add" or "Remove".
