The ATM industry ignores Win8/8.1 and goes straight to Win 10

Computer Store News: At present, many ATMs in Europe and America run Win7 or unsupported Windows XP systems. . Today, the ATM Industry Association issued a recommendation that any Windows 7-based device should wait for the official release of Win10 to be updated and bypass the Win8/Win8.1 system update.

Mike Lee, CEO of the ATM Industry Association, said: "ATM deployers should start implementing their 2020 migration plan as soon as possible, because by 2020, Win7 will also lose official Microsoft support. This means that the ATM terminal will need to be eligible for upgrade/compatible with the next operating system update. It is now necessary to understand what kind of ATM configuration can adapt to Win10. ”

For those ATM devices that are still running Windows XP, Lee said: “Deployers should remember that it is not wise for ATMs with XP systems to wait for Win10 updates because they are not supported. The system is a security risk. In other words, the ATM industry association recommends that all ATM equipment should be updated to the Win7 system as soon as possible. After Win10 is released, Win10 will be updated directly, and Win8/8.1 will be ignored.

In March last year, a month before Microsoft stopped supporting the XP system, about 95% of all ATM ATMs were still running the system.
