Pave the way for Win10 Universal, Microsoft stopped selling Kinect v2

Computer store news: Microsoft announced today that it will stop the production and sales of the second generation Kinect for Windows sensor. Software developers can still develop Kinect-based Windows applications by combining the Xbox One version of the Kinect sensor with the Kinect Adapter for Windows adapter.

Microsoft announced at the end of last year that it would stop the sale of the first generation Kinect for Windows sensor, but today the second generation of sensory sensors will be discontinued. Unexpectedly, because the second generation of Kinect for Windows was released last summer.

Microsoft explained in an official blog:

In the past few months, we have seen the developer community’s demand for Kinect sensors to an unprecedented level and listening to them. Developers have also encountered some difficulties when pushing Kinect to other markets. At the same time, the developer community is very active in being able to use the Kinect for Xbox One sensor to develop applications for the Kinect for Windows sensor, and we are now pleased to announce that the Kinect for Xbox One sensor and the Kinect Adapter for Windows adapter are now available. Landed in most markets around the world.

The Kinect adapter allows users to connect the Kinect for Xbox One sensor to a Windows 8.1 computer or tablet in the same way as Kinect for Windows v2. At the same time, because Kinect for Xbox One has the same function as Kinect for Windows v2, the Kinect for Windows SDK 2.0 development kit released by Microsoft is compatible with these two sensors.

Windows on this adapter name should be understood as Windows 10, as it will work with all Microsoft device platform developers, including the current Xbox One and the discontinued Kinect for Windows v2, a unified platform for Win10. strategy.
