Microsoft will improve Win10 OneDrive synchronization features

Computer store news: Microsoft has promised to improve the OneDrive experience for Windows 10 Technology Preview users, especially the OneDrive synchronization feature, so far other platforms have not provided some similar features.

Chris Jones, vice president of Microsoft's OneDrive and SharePoint division, wrote in a blog post that the team has been working on creating a single synchronization engine, he said:

We decided to launch improvements to the basic functionality of the Windows 7 and Windows 8 Consumer Sync Engine and add the necessary correct features for the other two engines. We can also add features to benefit all customers at once, and the Windows 8.1 placeholders ensure that we are not experiencing excessive reliability challenges. We also understand that a synchronization engine is enough to provide the necessary features compared to the other three engines, so this is the best choice for achieving our core goals.

Jones said the team is working hard to improve the OneDrive experience on all platforms, including all currently supported versions such as Windows, Mac, iOS and Android, Windows Phone. He wrote:

Later this month we will release a unified OneDrive app for Windows Phone and Android and iOS. We have made great improvements to Windows 7 in terms of synchronization reliability and performance. We will release a preview version of the Mac client for OneDrive Enterprise Edition later this month, and we are working hard to develop the Synchronize Shared Folders feature. For Windows 8.1 customers, we have made some changes to OneDrive's automatic synchronization.

For the Windows 10 Technology Preview, Jones realized that OneDrive does not currently have a separate sync engine to handle placeholder files. He wrote:

We need to add some important features to Windows 10, some of which will be integrated into the first version, including shared folders and support for consumer and enterprise services. Other features will be available after the release of the update, especially as the placeholder core functionality needs to be more reliable and easy to understand. We know that when you decide to use OneDrive, you have fully trusted our handling of your files, and we are working hard every day to earn your trust.

He added that the OneDrive team has a clear roadmap for Windows 10 users, and it will bring you the best experience from now until the end of this year. Jones also encourages users to pass the Windows Feedback app. Provide feedback and suggestions.

Microsoft decided to use Win7/Win8's OneDrive synchronization engine to improve the new OneDrive synchronization engine — — OneDrive's WP and Android versions have now merged with consumer and enterprise Version OneDrive sync entry, other versions are coming soon.
