Win9 will be released next spring to attract PC users to upgrade

Computer store news: Microsoft's Windows 8 has been available for two years, but for many PC users, this system still does not attract them to upgrade, this It has also become a big problem that has plagued Microsoft. In order to correct the mistakes made on Windows 8, Microsoft is rumored to be developing the next big version of Windows, and will officially release it next spring.

It is reported that the next version of Windows may be called Windows 9 or Windows Threshold. In order to attract more users to upgrade, Microsoft has added a lot of features designed for desktop PC users in the new system.

In Windows 8.1 Update, the system has been able to adjust the function according to the hardware configuration. For example, some devices running Windows 8.1 Update will have power and search buttons on the start screen, but others will not. Some device startups start up to the desktop environment by default, but other devices that use touch as the main input method will still enter the start screen first, that is, the Metro interface.

According to reports, Microsoft will continue this processing in the Windows Threshold. The appearance and working style of the system will vary depending on the type of hardware.

It is said that Threshold will place the desktop environment in the front and center when running on a laptop/desktop, while the 2-in-1 device supports switching between the desktop and the Metro interface (depending on whether the device is connected to the keyboard). .

The mobile/tablet version of Threshold will not have a desktop environment at all, but it will still support the application's dependencies. This version of the system should support Windows Phone phones, Windows tablets and Intel Atom tablets with ARM chips.

Similar to previous rumors, the news said that the desktop version of Threshold will join the mini start menu, which is a new version of the traditional start menu. In addition, the system will also support running Metro applications in a desktop environment.

Before the official launch next spring, Microsoft is expected to launch a public preview of Threshold this fall. Before the release of this version, the second and last upgrade of Windows 8.1 will be released. Since Microsoft decided to put the mini start menu in Threshold instead of Windows 8.1 Update 2, the latter will not have much new features. While this upgrade may include adjustments on the user interface, there are no obvious new features.

The Windows 8.1 Update 2 code is currently available and will be available two weeks before the patch Tuesday of August. For this upgrade, Microsoft may choose low-key processing.

It is reported that Microsoft's operating system team hopes to upgrade as many Windows 7 users as possible to Windows 7 SP1, and let Windows 8 users upgrade to Windows 8.1 to prepare for the upgrade after Threshold. At present, the system is still in a fairly early development cycle, and Microsoft may not finalize the price and release method. However, according to people familiar with the matter, Windows Threshold may be distributed free of charge to all Windows 8.1 Updates and even Windows 7 SP1 users.

Windows 8 has become a re-emergence of Vista, so Microsoft will not carry out any follow-up development on this version, but will devote all its efforts to the development of Threshold and use it to work with Windows 8. Clear the boundaries and rediscover the lost users.
