Microsoft Windows Full Platform System and Service Updates

Computer Store News: As reported a few months ago, the Windows team is developing Windows 8's first "Feature Pack" update, code-named Blue, which is expected to be released this summer/autumn. And according to a fairly reliable source: Blue is not just an update to Win8.

Blue is also Microsoft's next-generation full-platform update, including Windows Phone 8, Windows services (such as SkyDrive, Hotmail/Outlook.com) and Windows Server. In other words, Blue is Microsoft's next wave of important product platform updates, and the release of each product will not be too far apart.

Until the Blue update is officially launched, Microsoft will continue to release system updates, patches, or new features for Windows 8/Windows RT, Windows services, and Windows Phone 8. As far as Windows Phone 8 is concerned, Microsoft has already launched an update code-named Portico to fix the problem and add small features.

Blue means a major change in the development, deployment and promotion of software and services. At present, many Microsoft teams will launch important platform updates in 2 – 3 years, and the new challenge is to plan to launch platform updates every year, and the first update is part of Blue.

On Windows, compared to the current release of a new version of the Windows operating system every three years, and then hope that the OEM will complete the official version of the test and pre-installed in a few months, Microsoft's new Blue update will break this In a single cycle, the overall deployment will be faster, most likely through the Windows Store (app store).

There are currently no new features for Blue updates. But the source mentioned that user experience/interface improvements, new development platforms, and new productivity applications such as Internet Explorer, mail calendars, and Bing apps are likely to be included in the Blue update. Blue will include updates to the kernel and driver layers to help improve battery life and overall performance. At the same time, backward compatibility with Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 seems to be a top priority.
