Google Android is ruled to infringe Oracle Java patent

Computer shop news A jury in the United States made a ruling on Monday that Google has infringed on Oracle's Java patent rights but compensation in the development of Android software. Was drastically reduced. The jury has not yet reached an agreement on whether Google is “fairly used”.

Oracle filed a lawsuit against Google in August 2010, arguing that the Android operating system developed by the latter infringed on seven patents in the Java language. Google rebutted Oracle’s allegations, saying the company did not infringe patent rights and believed that Oracle could not enjoy copyright on parts of Java.

In addition to patent litigation, Oracle also alleged that Google infringed its copyright and demanded that it pay hundreds of millions of dollars in damages. Oracle acquired Sun in 2010 and has acquired a Java patent. Earlier this month, Oracle agreed to withdraw multiple lawsuits because the US Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) cancelled some of the company's patents.
