Install Macintosh Print Service and UNIX Print Service in Windows Server 2003

This step-by-step article describes how to install the print service on a Windows Server 2003-based computer. To allow users of clients running non-Microsoft operating systems to print, the print server must have additional services installed. These additional print services include:

Note: Windows Web Server 2003 does not provide Macintosh printing services.

Microsoft Print Services for UNIX related notes
in UNIX, a program on one computer can use the Line Printer Remote (LPR) service to send a document to a print spooler on another computer processing Program service. The receiving service is often referred to as the Line Printer Daemon (LPD).

UNIX print service providers LPR and LPD services, which run independently on a Windows Server 2003-based print server.
    11. The Line Printer Daemon Service (LPDSVC) on the print server receives documents from the native LPR utility running on a UNIX client.
    12. The LPR Print Monitor (Lprmon) on the print server sends the print job to the native LPD process on the UNIX machine to which the printer is attached.
