Configuring Win2K Active Directory and Handling Cluster External Storage Troubleshooting

There are two questions to ask. First, is there any white paper or document that can guide the configuration of Win2K Active Directory? Second, I want to try to use the cluster, but Windows requires me to have an external storage or storage area network. Is there a way to get around this requirement?

First of all, there are a lot of instructions on configuring Active Directory on Windows 2000. You can take a look at the deployment instructions first, which can be obtained from the Microsoft website or the Windows 2000 Resource Kit.

Regarding the second question, you can configure the cluster as a single-node cluster without the need for external storage. You should still use the advanced server version of Windows 2000. You have to run the cluster configuration wizard command parameter "localqourum". Do the following steps:

1. From the Control Panel, click Add/Remove Programs.
2. Click Add/Remove Windows Components.
3. Click Cluster Service and then click Next to complete the installation.
4. The Cluster Configuration Wizard appears, click Cancel to remove the wizard, and then click Next to see the need to run the cluster configuration later.
5. From the %Systemroot% cluster, run "cluscfg -localquorum". This will launch the cluster configuration wizard.
