Easily improve the speed of Win 2003

The registry is a tool to optimize Windows, Windows 2003 is no exception. Below I will introduce how to use the registry to improve the speed of the system.

1. Reduce the progress bar reading time

Enter “Start →Run”, enter “regedit”Open“Registry Editor”, find the key value HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\ SYSTEM\\CurrentControlSet\\Control\\Session Manager\\Memory Management\\PrefetchParameters\\EnablePrefe tcher”, the default value is 3, modify to 1.

2.Using read-ahead to improve boot speed

If you are using PIII 800MHz CPU and 512MB memory or above, it is recommended to change the above key value to 4 or 5 to make full use of the system pre- Read function, after restarting, the boot speed can be improved.

3. Reduce the waiting time before the program closes

Find the key value  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\System\\CurrentControlSet\\Control\\WaitToKillServiceTimeout”, change the default value 20000 to 1000 or less (the unit is Milliseconds; find the key value  HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Control Panel\\Desktop\\WaitToKillAppTimeout”, change the default value of 20000 to 1000 or less (in milliseconds), which can greatly reduce the waiting time when closing the program.

4. Reduce the waiting time when the program error

Find the key value  HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Control Panel\\Desktop\\HungAppTimeout”, change the default value of 5000 to 200 (in milliseconds), so It can greatly reduce the waiting time when a program error occurs.

5. Let the system automatically close the program that stops responding

Locate  HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Control Panel\\Desktop\\ AutoEndTasks”, change the default value of 0 to 1.

6. Improve the window pop-up speed:

Find "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Control Panel\\Desktop\\WindowMetrics\\MinAniMate", the default value is 1, indicating that the animation is displayed when the window is opened, just modify it For “0” you can disable the animation display, which greatly increases the speed of the window pop-up.

Note: It is strongly recommended to make a backup before modifying the registry.
