Virtual Machine Collection for Windows Server 2012 VDI Standard Deployment (Continued)

Previous blog post We have introduced two common ways to create a managed virtual machine collection for VDI standard deployment, please refer to:

This blog post continues to introduce two ways to create unmanaged virtual machine collections: unmanaged shared virtual desktop collections, unmanaged personal virtual desktop collections. The so-called unmanaged is to manually create and manage virtual machines, so you need to manually prepare each virtual machine (instead of using a virtual machine template), and then add it to the virtual machine collection.

Enter the steps to create specifically:

1. Prepare for work:

First we need to use several virtual desktops, we need to create several virtual machines and configure them. Good IP address, then add each virtual machine to the domain and wait for it.

2, open the server manager, click on the left side of the "Remote Desktop Services", and then click "Create a virtual machine collection", as shown below:

3, open the "Create Collection" wizard, click Next,

4, enter the collection name, click Next,

5, specify the collection type, the two ways of unmanaged collection are as follows:

Configuration of unmanaged common virtual desktop collection:

Configuration of unmanaged personal virtual desktop collections:

6. Specifying existing ones In the virtual machine interface, select the created virtual machine "available virtual machine", "add" to the right "selected virtual machine"; list,

7. In the user assignment interface (the unmanaged shared virtual desktop collection does not have this step), this is the configuration of the unmanaged personal virtual desktop collection, which is used to automatically allocate the virtual machine when the user connects to the virtual machine for the first time. , here select “Enable automatic user assignment”, Below:

8. Specify the specific access rights to connect to the user group of the collection. Here, the domain user group is selected by default,

9. Specify the user profile storage path (the user profile of the unmanaged personal virtual desktop collection type is stored in each user-specific virtual machine disk, so there is no such step), this is not To configure the configuration of the shared virtual desktop collection type, you need to specify the disk path of the local RD virtualization host (physical machine), click Next,

10, confirm the selection Configuration information, click <;Create”,

11. Adding a virtual desktop to the collection ……

( Note: This is one step less than exporting a collection of virtual machines, because the virtual machine is manually prepared and does not need to be exported by template.)

12. The collection was created successfully!

After the collection is created, we can open the "Remote Desktop Service" in the Server Manager to view the structure diagram in the overview, you can see all the created collections, as follows Figure:
