Vista automatically clears virtual memory page

Shutdown: Clear virtual memory page file This security setting determines whether the virtual memory page file is cleared when the system is shut down. Virtual memory support uses a system page file to swap memory pages to disk when they are not in use. On a running system, this page file is opened exclusively by the operating system and is well protected. However, systems that are configured to allow booting to other operating systems may want to ensure that system page files are purged when this system is shut down. This ensures that sensitive information in the process memory that may enter the page file is not attempted by unauthorized users who access the page file directly. Enabling this policy will clear the system page file on a clean shutdown. If this security option is enabled, the hibernation file (hiberfil.sys) is also cleared when hibernation is disabled on the laptop system. The setup steps are as follows: 1) Run: gpedit.msc to enter the Group Policy Object Editor. 2) Open the following contents as shown in the figure: "Computer Configuration"---"Windows Settings"---"Security Settings"---"Local Policies"---"Security Options"---"Shutdown: Clear Virtual Memory page". 3) Right click on "Properties" and click "Enabled". 4) Make sure that this setting is ok. For comrade solutions without group policy: 1.win+r runs regedit. 2. Navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MacHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControl/SetControlSession/ManagerMemory /Management" and double-click "ClearPageFileAtShutdown" in the list on the right. 3. In the pop-up "Edit DWord" value dialog box, change to 1. 4. Restart the computer for the changes to take effect.
