Win XP SP4 received Microsoft indirect confirmation

As early as the middle of 2006, Windows XP SP3 was far from being released, there were rumors that Microsoft will launch a fourth SP service pack for this classic operating system, but there will be no more news since then. When Windows XP RTM was approaching, ZDNet blogger Mary-Jo Foley summarized the technical support for several Windows systems and Office software, including Windows XP SP4.

However, XP fans are not too excited. This ultimate upgrade package will probably not be available until five years later. It should be Windows 7 (or SP1 or even SP2).

On April 14, 2009, this is the end of mainstream support for Windows XP Professional, Windows XP Home, Windows Server 2003 SP1, and Office 2003. After that, Microsoft will only release security patches for them free of charge. If users want to continue to receive full support from Microsoft, they must pay. Windows XP Professional will last until April 8, 2014, and Office 2003 will only be available until August 4, 2012.

Unexpectedly, Windows Vista SP2 and Office 2007 SP2 upgrade service packs are also expected to be released in April.

The following are the lifespans of various Windows systems and Office software:

Windows 2000: Free support has expired on June 30, 2005, and paid support will last until July 13, 2010. Day; there will be no more SP5.

Windows XP SP2: Retirement on July 13, 2010.

Windows XP SP3: SP4 will be retired two years later or in April 2014, depending on which one comes first.

Windows Vista Business: Free support as of April 10, 2012, paid support as of April 11, 2017.

Windows Vista SP1: SP2 is released (expected in April) and will retire two years later, so it is likely to be April 2011.
