Fault 3. The volume icon of the system tray does not appear when starting up

[Fault phenomenon] After each startup of Windows XP SP2, the volume icon is always not displayed in the system tray. Each time you need to enter the "Sound and Audio Device Properties" in the control panel, uncheck the "Put the volume icon into the taskbar" and then re-select it. The volume icon will appear.

[Troubleshooting] Enter "regedit" in the "Run" dialog box and press Enter to open the Registry Editor, expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Run, and then in the right window Right-click to create a new string value "Systray", double-click the key value, edit its value to "c:\\windows\\system32\\Systray.exe", and then restart the computer to automatically load systray.exe when Windows XP starts. In addition, you can also try to download the "XP Taskbar Repair Tool".

Fault 4. Desktop disappears

[Fault phenomenon] After starting the Windows operating system, there is no icon on the desktop.

[Fault Analysis] In most cases, the desktop icon cannot be displayed because the explorer.exe cannot be loaded when the system starts, or the explorer.exe file is corrupted by viruses or advertisements, which can cause the desktop to be blank or no icon.

[Troubleshooting] First manually load the explorer.exe file, open the registry editor, and then expand "My Computer\\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Micrososft\\WindowsNT\\CurrentVersion\\WinLogon\\Shell" (Figure 4). If not, you can create a new explorer.exe after the shell according to this path (Figure 5). Then copy an explorer.exe file to this machine on another good computer and restart the computer. FIG

If the problem persists, consider a virus or caused by rogue software. First use anti-virus software to kill, the unresolved fault may be caused by the installation of a software called "Dynamic Desktop Media". Press "Ctrl+Alt+del" to open the "Task Manager", switch to the "Processes" tab and find the "SYSU.EXE" process, right click on it to "end the process". And delete the C:\\Program Files\\ddm folder, and all the values in the registry that contain "ddm", the desktop icon will be restored.
