The simple way to upgrade win xp home version to professional version is open

Most users use the home version of the system when they first install the system, but the home version of the system is generally limited if it is used for work, so many users want to upgrade to the professional version, today I will give it to everyone. Introduce the easiest way. A German computer magazine "CT" recently revealed a way to change the windows xp Home version to the Pro version, just change the two bytes of the installation file. We can't guarantee the validity of this method, but introduce it to everyone, maybe the eye can point out its principles and flaws.

First of all, you can't modify the installed Windows operating system, but only on the installation CD (or the recovery CD provided by the PC manufacturer)

Specific steps:

1. Copy the Windows XP installation CD root directory and the i386 directory to your hard drive.

2. Take the boot sector program (BootSector) from the Windows XP installation CD

3. Change the two bytes of i386\\Setupreg.hiv:

a. Open Registry Editor

b.Highlight HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

c.Menu: File -> Load Structure -> i386\\Setupreg.hiv

d.Assign an arbitrary Name to the imported structure "Homekey"

e. Enter HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Homekey\\ControlSet001\\Services\\setupdd

f. Edit Binary “Default”, “01” “00” Then change “02 to 00”

g.Highlight “Homekey” and select menu: File -> unload structure

4. Burn your new XP Pro installation CD

5. Install WindowsXP Pro system, Home serial number is still valid

Note: You can't install SP2 in Windows XP Pro system installed like this, only use SP2 integrated. Installation disk.

The Chinese version of XP and German versions may differ.

Although this method does not guarantee validity, it is always possible to try it out. Of course, people with a clear eye can see the principle of this method. In theory, it is generally successful, so you don’t have to deflate and try again. I will know it.
