How to access a GPT hard disk or USB flash drive on a Windows XP system

GPT is a disk partitioning architecture used by the Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI) in Itanium-based computers. It can be accessed on Win2003 sp2 system, but it can't be accessed in WinXP system. If you want to access GPT hard disk or U disk under WinXP, how can we accomplish this task without using third-party software?

Since the GPT disk is accessible on the Win2003 sp2 system, we need to borrow some files from it. Copy the disk.sys file of the 2003 sp2 system, and then replace it under the WinXP system or replace it with pe.

WinXP replacement needs to rename disk.sys inside system32\\dllcache, WinXP can't find it. If you don't have this file then don't bother.

WinXP also has a place windows\\Driver Cache, you can empty it here, or rename the drivers.cab file. Copy Win2003's disk.sys to dllcache and driver cache.

Then delete the disk.sys inside WinXP's system32\\drivers. Now the system can recognize the GPT hard disk or U disk.

The advantage of using this method is that you don't need to use third-party software, and there is no situation that causes WinXP system to be unstable. Of course, the more direct method is still recommended to replace the WinXP system with Win7 or above. After all, the Win7 system is mainstream and stable, and friends in need can download the latest Win7 system.
