The purpose of writing this tutorial today is to share the method of configuring Squid under WINDOWS host. Where can you write incomplete or incomplete or need to be modified? I will correct it the first time. See the body section below.

First mention the conditions, you must pre-install this configuration Squid this computer must be connected to the network, the system version is windows 2000/xp/2003/server 2003. 1) Download Squid for Windows version, download address As follows (ZIP file name: squid-2.7.STABLE4-bin.zip), you can download this file to the desktop, so that you can find a good operation. Squid is a well-known proxy server software under Linux/Unix. Many commercial versions of proxy servers are developed based on Squid: http://www.squid-cache.org/products.html and only recently discovered that Squid originally had For Version of Windows: http://www.acmeconsulting.it/SquidNT/download.html Although this version is not the official version of the Squid project released for Windows, but from the release of the version record, it can be seen that the maintainer of this version is still very negative responsible. Students who wish to build a proxy server under the Windows platform may wish to try it out. http://squid.acmeconsulting.it/download/squid-2.7.STABLE4-bin.zip2) This step is to extract the file and copy the ZIP file (squid-2.7.STABLE4-bin.zip) that was just downloaded to C. The root directory of the disk, then right click on this file, select “ extract to the squid-2.7.STABLE4-bin” command, you can generate a squid folder in the root directory of the C drive. Note: Try not to change the path and folder name, try to put it in the root directory of the C drive, do not change the folder name, it is called squid, because the default installation location of Squid for Windows is C:\\squid, we must be cautious. If you want to modify the path and folder name, then you have to modify a lot of configuration in Squid, it is quite troublesome. 3) Start-Run-cmd, open the window and enter the command in the DOS command line as shown below. 4) Close the DOS window and go back to the desktop. Enter my computer - C drive, double-click to open the Squid folder, double-click to open the Squid.conf file, and configure and edit this file. After pressing SSL_ports, press Enter to add 2 blank lines. For the input, please see the figure below.

6)Find #cache_mem 8 MB This sentence deletes the previous ## and changes the default 8 to the required size. The value here should be determined by the available memory of the specific machine, and should be allowed in the memory. Try to set the larger one to improve the performance of the proxy server, but not let the cache size of the proxy server affect the performance of the machine. Just as shown below. 7) Set the hostname, please follow the diagram below. 8) Press Ctrl+S to save the edit to the Squid.conf file, then close it. 9) Start-Run-cmd, enter the following 3 commands. Cd c:\\squid\\sbinsquid -isquid -zsquid10) Configuration is complete.
