2. Reduce the hard disk space occupied by the system (1) Turn off the system restore System Restore can return the computer to an earlier time (called the restore point) without losing our recent work, but it takes a long time, It takes up a lot of hard disk space. Therefore, it is necessary to manually set it to reduce the amount of hard disk usage. Open the “System Properties” dialog box, select the “System Restore” tab in the dialog box, and select the “Close System Restore on All Drives” checkbox to turn off System Restore. If you do not turn off System Restore, you can set up a restore only for the disk or partition on which the system resides. (3) Reduce or disable virtual memory When the physical memory of the system is relatively large, you can consider reducing the value of virtual memory or even canceling the virtual memory. When you have 512MB of physical memory, you can set the virtual memory to half of the physical memory, that is, 256MB. If you have 1GB of physical memory, you can cancel virtual memory. For the method of setting virtual memory, see “Preparing the page virtual memory” in the previous section. 3. Clear Temporary Files (1) Clear Temporary Files of the System Temporary files of the system are generally stored in two locations: the Temp folder in a Windows installation directory; the other is X:\\Documents and Settings\\“username” \\Local Settings\\Temp folder (X: is the partition where the system is located). Files in both locations can be deleted directly. (2) Clearing Temporary Internet Files A long period of time will result in a large number of temporary Internet files. In the pop-up dialog box, select the “General” tab, and click “In the Temporary Internet Files” column. Delete the file & rdquo; button, and in the pop-up "Delete Files" dialog box, select the "Delete all offline content" check box and click the "OK" button. You can put the files you want to share directly into this shared folder without any settings. However, in practical applications, many people do not need this feature. We can disable this feature by modifying the registry to save disk space. Open the Registry Editor and find the subkey {59031a47-3f72-44a7-89c5-5595fe6b30ee}” under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion \\Explorer\\My Computer\\NameSpace\\DelegateFolders. Delete it. It is best to make a backup before deleting, or write down this value so that you can restore it instantly when needed.
