Do you really share it? XP File Sharing Complete Manual

WIN xp is NT kernel, so the security requirements in Network
are higher than 9x. In terms of file sharing, it is also different from 9x. In a 9x system, you only need to set a password in the share, so you can only log in to the user who knows the password. And xp can't be implemented as simple as this.

win xp share is divided in two: simple file sharing (Simple File Sharing) and advanced file sharing (Professional File Sharing). Xp opens simple file sharing by default.

a, simple file sharing

open simple file sharing is very simple, as long as the drive or right-click on a folder and select Properties, appears as shown below:

We just choose to share this folder on the network. After sharing, the "Allow network users to change my files" item is enabled by default, so if there is no special need, we must remove the shared drive from the front of the hook and some security tips will appear first, as shown below:
< Br>

Then click on the shared drive and the same settings as shown in Figure 1 will appear.

Open GUEST account

This step is very important, xp default GUEST account is not enabled, as shown below:

To allow network Users accessing this computer must open the GUEST account. Click "Start - Settings - Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Computer Management - Local Users and Groups - Users" in the right click on the right GUEST account, select "Properties" and then remove the "Account Disabled" option, 98 The network user logs in, and the username and password are the same as those just entered under XP. If it still cannot be accessed, it may be that the local security policy restricts the user from accessing. When the GUEST user is enabled or there is a corresponding account in the local area, click "Start - Settings - Control Panel - Computer Management - Local Security Policy" to open "Local Security Assignment - Deny access to this computer from the network" If you see GUEST or the corresponding account in the user list, please delete the setting simple file sharing, any user on the network can access, no password, simple and clear.

Second, advanced file sharing

xp advanced file sharing is by setting different accounts were given permission to do, that setting ACL (Access Control List, Access control lists) to plan the sharing of folders and hard disk partitions to limit user access.

First, prohibit simple file sharing:

First open a folder in the menu bar "Tools", "Folder Options", "View" tab, in the advanced settings In, remove "use simple file sharing (recommended)", as shown below:

This is not the case and can not start advanced file sharing, this just disables simple file sharing, You must enable your account and set permissions to reach access restrictions.
