Simple is best to make the system "temporary" more reasonable

Windows XP system by default "My Documents", Windows temporary folder, virtual memory, IE temporary folder and program installation directory and other frequently used folders are set in the system Within the sub-region. Over time, as more and more installers and files become available, it will result in insufficient disk space or fragmentation, which will slow down the system. In order to maintain the stability of the system and the convenience of future use, let us move these non-system folders.

My Documents

Find "My Documents" in the "Start" menu, right click and select "Properties" "Destination Folder" "Move", select a folder, or Select the entire partition as "My Documents", such as the F drive, fill in the "F:\\" in the "Destination Folder" box, click "OK", the system will start all the files in "My Documents" Transfer all to the F drive (Figure 1). This way, even if you reinstall the system, as long as the F drive is not formatted, the files in "My Documents" can continue to be used. Windows Temporary Folder

First create a TEMP folder in another partition, for example: E:\\TEMP. Open "Control Panel" "System" "Advanced" "Environment Variables", double-click the two variable names "TEMP" and "TMP" respectively, pop-up "Edit User Variables" dialog box, fill in "Variable Value" with E: \\TEMP, OK (Figure 2).

installation directory

system will default installation directory on the C drive Program File folder, with the increase in the installer, will occupy a lot of disk space C, so it is best to have the program installed In other partitions. If you feel that it is too much trouble to use manual changes every time, you can do so by modifying the registry.

Open the "Registry Editor" dialog box, expand the "HKEY_LOCAL_MacHINE\\software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\Current Version" item in the dialog box, find the "ProgramFilesDir" value in the right window, double-click the value, in Enter D:\\Program File in the Value data box, then click OK to restart the computer to complete the setup (Figure 5).

System Restore

system default "System Restore" folder will take up a lot of space, but we do not often use it, and with the increasing restore points, occupancy The space will be bigger and bigger. Many friends find that the available space on the C drive is getting smaller, for this reason. So it's best to turn off or reduce the folder space.

Open "Control Panel" "System" "System Restore", if you want to turn off the system restore function, check "Turn off System Restore on all drives", OK. If you want to reduce the C disk system restore folder space, click the C drive letter, click the "Settings" button, pop up the settings panel, change the "Disk space to be used" to "Minimum 4% (200MB)", then confirm Yes (Figure 6).

Recycle Bin

The system defaults to reserve a space for the Recycle Bin in each partition, as long as there is enough on one partition. We can free up the reserved space of the C drive.

Right-click "Recycle Bin" on the desktop, select "Properties", pop-up "Recycle Bin Properties" panel, click "Independent Configuration Drive" on the "Global" option, and then switch to "Local Disk" C option, change the "% of the maximum space of the recycle bin" to 0%, you can determine (Figure 7).
