Modify the registry to make the computer more personalized

1. Change the way "My Computer" is opened (for win98)

When we double-click "My Computer", the default opening method is general The window mode, you will open a new window every time you click the next directory is very troublesome, we can modify the registry, so that the computer opens "my computer" in the way we like.

Open \\\\\\\\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\\\SOFTWARE\\\\Classes\\\\ directory to find CLSID\\\\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}, create a new primary key Open under the shell, and then create a primary key under Open Command, modify the default key value to the right of it to "Explorer.exe", so you can use the Explorer to open "My Computer".

If you are an old person and like the open file manager method like win32, then you can change the default key value to "WinFile.exe" and you can open "My Computer" with the file manager.

Of course, you can also use other programs to open "My Computer", just modify it under the primary key, such as changing the default key value to "D:\\\\Wintools\\\\ACDSee32\\\\ ACDSee32.exe", then, when you double-click the "My Computer" icon on the desktop, ACDSee32 will be enabled to open "My Computer". But don't tell me that you want to use Photoshop to open your computer, it's nothing fun! 2. Enhance URL automatic matching and probe search function in IE

We all know that IE has automatic matching function when inputting address in IE address bar (we don't need to input the previous http://Www, this is the default protocol and file transfer method). After we enter CPCW, IE will automatically complete the address to http://www.cpcw.com, but IE can only match .com by default. What if I want to find pchome.net? If you want IE to have automatic detection for .net, .edu, .org, etc. suffixes, open three new ones named "2" in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\\\Software\\\\Microsoft\\\\Internet Explorer\\\\Mail\\\\UrlTenplate The string values of "3" and "4", and change the key values to "www.%s.org", "www.%s.net", "www.%s.edu", respectively. If you want to add more, follow this format, what. Mil, etc. 3. Let the "Resource Manager" and other windows can also be automatically refreshed

We add a folder or add a new file or file transfer every time in the "Explorer" and "Folder" windows. At the time, you have to press a button to refresh the window. The window can be automatically refreshed by modifying the registry. Open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\\\SYSTEM\\\\CURRENTCONTROLSET\\\\CONTROL\\\\UPDATE, change the "UPDATEMODE" value, change from "1" to "0", so the window can be automatically refreshed. 4. Display a thumbnail of the BMP image in the "Explorer" window

There are many BMP images in the Windows 98 system. In order to find the BMP images you need, you have to open these images to find them (and generally Both gif and jpg have thumbnails). In order to save time, we can have them appear as thumbnails directly in the window. Open HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\\\\Paint.Picture\\\\DefaultIcon and change the parameter "1" of the "default" key value to "%1". Click "OK" and then you need to restart your computer so that you can see a thumbnail of the BMP image. 5. Make the dial-up network store the password

When the dial-up network connection item is opened, the small square of the "Save Password" column of some systems is displayed in gray, meaning you can't tick the password. For home users, use the registry: Open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Network /RealModeNet. If you can find the value of autologon on the right is "00", double-click the mouse to change the value to "01 00 00 00 00", and then restart Windows. If you can't find the autologon value, create a new key, type "Dword", set the value to "1" (if it is "0", it is a gray square), then restart the computer and everything is OK. 6, hide the 'display all files and folders' in the 'folder options' In fact, there is a more absolute way, let us conduct an experiment: run "regedit" to start the registry editor, open KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\\Microsoft \\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\explorer\\Advanced\\Folder\\Hidden\\SHOWALL, for security reasons, please export the branch first, then delete the SHOWALL branch, reopen the "Advanced Settings" window, you will never find "Show all files" And the folder" option, naturally others want to modify it is not possible! A friend who has a certain understanding of the registry will soon understand the mystery: all the settings in the original "folder options" are saved in the ...\\Advanced\\ (same) branch of the registry. Just do a little bit of work in the registry, the "Folder Options" dialog is in your hands! Take Windows 98 as an example. The 8 primary keys under the Folder primary key correspond to the 8 options under “Files and Folders” in the “Advanced Settings” window. The 3 primary keys under Visual respectively correspond to 3 under “Visual Settings”. Options. Which option is specific, as long as you can see the key names of the "Key" corresponding to each primary key name and primary key in the right pane of the Registry Editor window (Figure 2). For example, the key value of the "Text" corresponding to the SHOWALL primary key is "Show all files", indicating that the SHOWALL primary key corresponds to the "Show all files" option in the "Advanced Settings" window. Therefore, when we delete this SHOWALL branch, we can no longer find this option, even if it is called "sesame open" does not work. In order to prevent others from modifying a folder option in Advanced Settings, we can do this in two ways: 1) Let the option "disappear" as described above, as long as the primary key branch corresponding to the option is deleted, the option will not be displayed. come out. For example, removing the HideFileExt branch will turn off the "Hide extensions for known file types" option. If you have not backed up, it will be more troublesome to recover after deleting the branch. In fact, there is an easier way to close the option: find the binary key value of the corresponding primary key under the name "Type", double-click to modify its key value, add any number after the original key value to close the option . For example, if the key value of "Type" under the SHOWALL primary key is changed from "radio" to "radio2", the corresponding "display all files" option will not be displayed. In this case, when you want to restore the display later, just change "radio2" back to "radio". 2) Let the modify "invalid" option not appear in the dialog box, which will inevitably cause suspicion. If the changes don't work, they can often confuse others. Under the primary key corresponding to each specific option, there is a binary value named "CheckedValue". When the key value is changed to "0", the modification of any option will not take effect by others (note: if the primary key corresponds Is the check box option, then the "UncheckedValue" key value can also be found under the primary key, please check whether its value is "0", if not, first change to "0". For example, first uncheck the "Show all files" option in "Advanced Settings", then change the key value of "CheckedValue" under the SHOWALL branch to "0", regardless of how it is set in the dialog box, in resource management. Neither will show hidden files, making your files more reliable. Of course, as long as the "CheckedValue" key value is changed back to "1", the modification of the corresponding option can be effective immediately.
