Computer Tutorial: Serv-U Installation and Basic Settings

  
        

1, download. Http://www.serv-u.com

2. Installation. Expand the compressed file "ServU3b7.zip”, execute “setup.exe” to start the installation; select the default option. After the installation is complete, you do not need to restart, you can see the relevant files directly in “Start → Programs & Rarr; Serv-U FTP Server” As shown below:


Second, establish the first available Ftp server

1, such as the local IP address is "192.168.0.48", has been established The relevant DNS record for the domain name & ldquo;ftp.bbc.com”.

2. Open the Serv-U Manager. Select “Serv-U Administrator” in the figure above, and “Setup Wizard” appears. This wizard can help you with the basic setup easily, so it is recommended. Directly select “Next” (next). As shown below:


3, please follow the steps below in the installation wizard:

(1)IP address: Enter “192.168.0.48” . (This should be left blank if a dynamic IP address is used, or if there is no valid IP address.)

(2)Domain name: Enter “ftp.bbc.com”.

(3) Install as system server (install as a system server): Select “Yes”.

(4)Allow anonymous access: You can choose according to your needs here; for example, select “Yes”.

(5)anonymous home directory: Here you can enter (or select) a home directory for anonymous users to log in to.

(6)Lock anonymous users in to their home directory: whether to set the home directory of the previous step to the user's root directory; generally select “Yes” .

(7)Create named account: Here, ask if you want to establish a normal login user account; generally select “Yes”.

(8)Account login name: The name of a normal user account, for example, enter "nanshan".

(9)Password: Set the user password. Since the entered password is displayed in plain text (not *), it is only lost once.



⑽Home directory (Home): input (or select) the user's home directory.

(11)Lock anonymous users in to their home directory: Select “Yes”.

(12)Account admin privilege: Generally use its default value “No privilege” (ordinary account).

(13) Finally select “Finish” (End) to complete the setup. As shown below:


4. As you can see from the above figure, an Ftp server has been set up. The server address is “ftp.bbc.com” and there are two One user, one is the anonymous user "Anonymous", the password is empty; one is the ordinary user "nanshan", the password is the content entered in the wizard.
