Event Viewer - Application Date: 2006-8-2 Source: PerfNet Time: 15:22PM Category: None Type: Error Event ID: 2004 Description: Unable to open server service. Server performance data will not be returned. The error code returned is the data DWORD 0.

Workaround:

Modify the registry to disable PerfNet performance counters. Specific method: Open the registry and add the REG_DWORD value (double-byte value) under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SYSTEM\\CurrentControlSet\\Services\\PerfNet\\Performance\\: Disable Performance Counters, set the value to 1 .

Restart, the problem is solved! After the boot, you don't have to press the OK button to pop up the error message:)

Another: You can use the Windows 2000 Resource Kit Tool: Extensible Performance Counter List (exctrlst.exe), run exctrlst.exe, in Extensible Performance Select PerfNet in the list and uncheck the Performance Counters Enabled checkbox next to the list box.
