APE file operation skills

APE audio format is being loved by more and more friends for its high quality lossless sound quality. We can often see the download of APE audio files in the BT release area. However, most of the APE files downloaded from the Internet use the entire CD compression method. How can I play and separate the single songs in any song selection?

Selecting a song to play

Play the entire CD-pressed APE file. To select any song, you need to have CUE file support. This file records this. Information such as the start time of each track of the disk. If the player used is Foobar2000, you can directly import the CUE file. As long as there is no error in the information in the CUE file, you can play the song.

If you use Winamp to play APE files, you can install a plugin called Mp3cuhttp://ajvmp3.paradise.net.nz/Mp3Cue_v0.94.zip) to let Winamp support CUE files. After extracting the downloaded compressed package, run Setup.exe, select the Winamp installation path, and click [Next] to complete the installation. Re-run Winamp, then there will be an additional "Mp3cue" window (if you do not press [Alt+N]), when playing APE file, double-click the list in the "Mp3cue" window to select any song.

Single Restore

If it is the entire CD-pressed APE and the corresponding CUE file, we can use the MakeAPL tool that comes with Monkey's Audio. CUE is converted into several APL files, and then you can use Monkey's Audio to restore the singles to WAV or convert them to other formats. The specific operation method is as follows:

Click [Start] → [Programs] →[Monkey's Audio]→[MakeAPL], pop up the MakeAPL operation window, click the [Build Link File(s)] button, select the CUE file corresponding to the APE file, click “Open”, then we are in the CUE file. The generated APL file can be found in the directory.

Open Monkey's Audio, select "Decompress" in the "Mode" menu, click the [Add Files] button in the toolbar, select the APL file to be restored and open it, and then click the [Decompress] button. The software will automatically start decompression work.
